10 hands - can't see out of stall :(

Your right. Didn’t think of that. I am not someone who stalls horses. I did once but it was a solid swinging half door only.

The 4x4 rail around the edge is a cool idea. Then she could see all over, not just out of the door.

Thanks everyone for your ideas & comments. I asked BO about rigging up something with a premade gate like the ones so many of you suggested. The prefab stalls can’t be drilled into, but I am sure there is we can figure out to attach the gate.

I had a name picked out, but she seems to go by Donkey. She is so sweet - I can only describe her as peaceful. She likes pets and scratches along her back, shoulder and neck, not really on her face. She expresses most of her emotion with subtle movement of her lips/muzzle.

The first night she was there we had to lower her water bucket. Luckily the auto waterer is within her reach outside. Previous BO had foals every year.

If I was a small stud pony I would want the same thing. Why does one need a psychic?

I had no problems when I kept him at home. We had a Hoskins waterer that sat low, and all three of my horses of various sizes could reach it fine. I had two sheds for them to get out of the weather, but no doors, just three sided sheds. My other pony was even smaller than the one I eventually boarded. By the time I boarded him, the other two had been euthanized for severe age related issues–the small pony had a sinus tumor, and the full size mare developed the horse version of Alzheimer’s, couldn’t find her hay when it was right in front of her, and started hating everyone and attacking. It was sad to see as she had been a been there, done that smart mare, and she was crazy about my husband. We didn’t let it go on for long as she was aleady well into her 30s.

You can build 2 weighted movable posts (buckets filled with concrete, cinder blocks, etc). Make them heavy enough that the donkey can’t push them over. Then use them to mount a fabric stall guard. I’ve used a similar approach in the past for my mini mare.

Or maybe a pressure mounted baby gate with a step-through door?

Can you make some sort of step for her to step onto? The YouTuber This Esme has that for her rescue pony for his shedrow stall’s dutch door. He figured it out pretty quickly.

When I was a kid, we had a mini and we removed one board in our stall at the mini’s eye level so he could see the horse beside him.
