2+1 Gooseneck horse trailers - 4 star vs Cimarron vs Hawk

Gorgeous trailer! What type of flooring?

I love those graphics and those wheels! Nice ride!

WERM floor…my old 4 star had the WERM floor. I never had any issues with it. When I went back to the Hawk and had to pull up the mats (and try and get them to fit back in place) and worry about the maintenance on the wood floor, I 100% was going back to the WERM flooring.

Bumping your post on the thread out of curiosity… Still like it? I looked (virtually) at them and liked the flexibility and length savings versus a H2H and someone here told me they were ā€œdangerous.ā€ Don’t see how they are more dangerous than any other horse trailer combined with horses, tbh. But the idea of two box stalls appeals :+1:t4:

Love it - Have done several long trips (18 hours). Never had issues loading and we do fairly young ones (mostly 4–6-year-olds). 2500 truck pulls extremely well.

I also have a Cimarron 2+2 and also love the flexibility. I haven’t put 4 horses in it yet - generally go between 3 (in straight stalls and a box) and 2 (in boxes).

My only complaint is that the windows in the trailer - which I bought new - leaked like crazy, in both the tack room and horse area. It went back to the dealer three times. First time they tried to fix the leaks which didn’t work. Second time they replaced some of the windows with new ones Cimarron sent which also didn’t work. Third time Cimarron flew one of their people in to make the repairs - and that time it worked.

Oh, also, where they put the saddle rack in the tack room was so dumb and inconveniently located. I had a local aluminum welder redo that for me in a much more logical way.

But other than those two things, very happy with the trailer.

Did you guys special order? I cannot find one anywhere online ?

Neysa Bryant was fantastic. Shipping was very reasonable.

They do the 2+2 in a Cimarron and Adams. Like I mentioned above we did look at the 4 Star as well but Cimmaron was similar quality and working with Neysa was a lot easier/accommodating than the 4 Star dealership.

Ah thanks! I knew a couple manufacturers made one, Adams was one because that was what I had looked at before. Yow on the price jump here, almost 20k between Adams and Cimmaron.

Thanks for feedback and link! I have Irish Draughts and IDSH and plan on breeding, so the idea of two box stalls appeals. I currently have a Trail Et NYer so it also breaks down as a single box and I love that option.

I have an Equispirit Safeload 2+1 and I love it- best constructed and well-designed trailer I’ve ever owned (6 total- 4 BP and one other GN 6H slant load).

Pulls like a dream- rock solid. Gigantic DR.

The few things I don’t love:

they put a small brush box at floor level in the stall. It’s awkwardly placed if you use the full stall (fine if you close the divider to make the stall a slant load). I just leave it empty all the time.

It’s TALL- which is great for the horses but to use the outer tie racks you either need to be a pro basketball player tall or awkwardly stand on the wheel hubs to tie up hay nets etc

One of my horses is skilled at bumping the internal door lock mechanism so half the time when I get where I’m going I can’t open the safety door and have to go through the other door to unlock from the inside. I only ever remember this when I’m already loading and leaving and I swear to myself I’ll remember the next time and duct tape it so he can’t bump it :joy:

Mine came from Neysa as well. They were very helpful in getting my window issue fixed - I give them a lot of credit for really sticking with it and making sure it all got sorted out.

Curious was yours the Roundabout or Delux? (just learned there are different ā€œtrimsā€)

Roundabout. However, nearly everything was upgraded to deluxe, all the way down to the windows. The dealer swore this was the cheaper option, and that structurally they were the same.

I’d be curious what dealer that was…. When I traded/got my new 4-Star, I looked at the runabout.

The dealer told me I’d never be happy w it as I’d always had the deluxe in the past. He said they were different in quality.

Every time I’ve traded (down for smaller size), I’ve had a deluxe and zero problems.

I’m sorry that was your experience. I’m not sure where you are geographically but I’m wondering if it’s a dealer in Michigan.

It is.

I can share the build sheet, there’s stuff I added that even the Deluxe doesn’t come ā€œstockā€ with. I did not have a set budget the dealer needed to stay under. I had things I wanted, and he was to build it for me.

Regardless, the structural integrity should be the same. Bottom end or top end, it’s still touted as a high end trailer.

ie - the chest bar should not have snapped off at the wall with them saying the weld didn’t penetrate. The WERM flooring shouldn’t have failed. The paint shouldn’t have failed.

Not to mention the issue where they built a custom trailer without actually looking at the drawings, and put the door 2’ from where it should have been, and everyone and their brother just signed off on the thing - it was me who finally caught it, when they were trying to get me to take the trailer.

True, all of it. My first trailer came from them when his dad was alive. It was a great experience. When I traded that trailer, it was a miserable experience. I don’t know anyone who had a good experience w him, including me. I never went back. I’m sorry you had a miserable experience.

A few years ago, they upgraded a lot of the finishings on Runabout to make standard some of the features that were only available on Deluxe previously. Other than the Quiet Ride system, structurally everything is the same. I believe now it’s really all just one line instead of 2, but you can of course add additional upgrades to the interior or siding.
