2017 Breeders Cup

Ugh, that ride on Bolt d’Oro.

Talismanic is so freaking cute with all that chrome!

Talismanic swoon. I am in love.

Just saw a shot of Churchill in the paddock. I know he hasn’t really got a chance, but darn if he doesn’t have my little mare’s face EXACTLY. Such a cute face!

Impressive effort by Gun Runner, but very disappointing final out for Arrogate. The break was bad, but not sure it was bad enough to fully explain that…

Did you hear what happened to Lady Eli? Early in the race she was bumped and cut badly on one leg and a hind shoe got ripped off. They said she will recover fine but it was an ugly injury.

I think it’s the track. He just doesn’t like it. I still think he’s an amazing horse.

I love Arrogate, so bummed. I was hoping he would go out on a high. Was hoping Lady Eli would have a great run too.

Lots of great racing and great horses but, sometimes their luck is just bad.

He has been screaming, “I hate it here!” for some time.

For or anyone who follows The Paulick Report, Arrogate was also running with a patched hind foot and a 3/4 shoe. Surprised that wasn’t mentioned.

Why should it have been, he’s had a patch on before… if BB even thought there was a slight chance Arrogate wasn’t 100% he wouldn’t have run him.
Sorry but no need for excuses.

Super happy for Gun Runner!!

Oh I love Gun Runner and was thrilled with the outcome! I really hope we’re seeing Candy Ride’s legacy take off as a sire. He might not sire your next 2yo sale topper, but dang he gets some tough, durable runners.

Lady Eli’s scrape:

It looks pretty superficial thank goodness.

Saw it as it was happening as I was watching her specifically - another horse was right on top of her heels, and wondered why the heck they couldn’t get her away from Lady Eli. Of course when it came back she had been hurt and lost a shoe, not surprised.

Love her and hoping for all the best. She was an amazing racehorse and wonderful how she recovered from laminitis well enough to race again, let alone at this level.

Did you have her? My sister and I were chatting about how good she looked, and glad Kimmel had a horse in. And then when she won! We were kicking ourselves that we didn’t put our money were our mouths were.

I bet with a few at my barn. Afraid to do online, I’d probably get carried away! Bar of Gold was my one win :uhoh: But we had a fun.

Lady Eli, didn’t know about the cut/scrape and lost shoe. That would at least partly explain her performance.

In any case, she has, at least in my eyes, no need for excuses. Her track record is more than impressive and her life record is off the charts

Wish she’d had a better end to her career but nothing to sneeze at.

The Classic, I was thinking neither Gun Runner or Arrogate would win given how these last two days made me think graveyard of favorites with all the longer shots performing so well. Arrogate, he just didn’t show up. Both Bob and Mike knew if he brought his A game they’d be in good shape, but not so good a shape if he didn’t show up. I think he did show he doesn’t like the Del Mar track.

As well, wish he’d had a better sendoff to the shed but a career that was more than impressive.

My favorite races were the Turf - and Talismanic… and World Approval’s win! I loved the fact that many winners were at higher odds/longshots!

That little filly September caught my eye as well - even though she did not win…
