They said that thundersnow went back to the barn and seemed OK on initial exam.
It looked like ThunderSnow had an equipment malfunction. Hard to say for sure, though.
Ouch, IWC in tenth… :sigh:
my initial reaction with Thunder Snow is that he was like “What the crap is this mud slapping me?” I hope he is okay. jock did a super job to stay on!
Has Thundersnow ever seen mud?
He trains in England so… YES!!!
Well an exciting race-- though the two I was rooting for didn’t do so great–IWC and McCraken.
Has he always run widdershins? Is this his first time racing to the left?
I’m liking all the little NBC peacocks…
IWC and McCracken slammed into Classic Empire and sandwiched him. That was scary. Poor guy.
Thunder Snow got pinched between horses and had a melt down. Poor guy too.
Always Dreaming and Johnny were fantastic. They were my pick.
Patch was really in the middle of a bunch and blocked often. Every time he tried to find a path it went away.

yep, someone Wes having trouble rebooting or something!
My initial thought was that Thunder Snow couldn’t handle having mud kicked in his face. He looked good walking back, but they’re giving him a thorough look-see.
We won $20 on Battle of Midway. Always Dreaming looked great.
Watching the replay & Thunder Snow started bucking within the first stride out o the gate. No idea what his issue was.
Super nice run for second by Lookin At Lee. He was at the back of the field going into the last turn.
Looks like Always Dreaming knows when to behave himself & save energy. He was perfect for saddling & warming up.
I think Thunder Snow found out he was in America, the land of the cowboys, and thought he’d try to fit in with the rodeo crowd.
Always Dreaming was so CLEAN when he got to the finish line, and Velasquez silks still pretty and white and colors sharp. I had to laugh, because the track was about as sloppy as I bet my farrier it would be Thursday… He had it on Gormley, I asked him about sloppy tracks and then we had our discussion. I had no bet regardless.
Nice to see the sun out for the race anyway.
Good race. My thought on Thunder Snow as the race was unfolding is that he freaked when all the mud hit him in the face. I know he has at least trained in England but ever on a dirt track… seems like most of the England tracks I see on TV are grass.
Thought it was interesting that not only was my interest on TS after the break, seems like even the caller (forget name) was looking more at TS and not the game of bumper cars that some of the outside horses were playing.
If I’d have been there would have had win tickets on both Always Dreaming and Irish War Cry (so half right) and show tickets on Battle of Midway and Sonneteer (half right again). At least the half rights would have covered the wrong bets
On to the Preakness… I’ll want to see who the field is before weighing in on AD’s chances.
Thunder apparently ok

TS started his career in England, racing on grass, then raced twice on dirt in Dubai, winning the UAE Derby in the mud. Well, “mud,” I think it was the first time the track at Meydan had been classified as anything but fast for the DWC Carnival.
But her certainly looked like he was saying, “oh HELL no,” when all those horses came over on top of him and that slop started to fly.
