2022 Maryland 5* at Fair Hill

I want to take Morswood home to carry my butt around N/T. He makes this 5* course look easy.

I know! Those ears!

Really tactful positive riding by Oli - that horse has such scope!

Allie ans Morswood a bit over time, but home safe!

So glad to see Hannah Sue and William finish well (and with a broken breastplate to boot)!

It’s amazing how many times I’ve seen Harbour Pilot and HSH run! Go old horses!

Jennie and FE Lifestyle put in the prettiest ride through the Crab Water! And finish well under time!

Buck and Carlevo home safe and into 4th!

Spoke too soon, looks like they’re restoring the flag penalty - darn!

He has never had a showjump down in FEI events.

Looks like Buck was assigned a late 15 at fence 16.

Ditto for the 5*. Over half the field double clear (if I’m counting right). The jumps seemed properly impressive, and there was obviously a lot of use of the terrain, but the top riders made it look like a canter through a park (Tim Price, Oli, Lauren Nicholson especially imo). I am glad there was no carnage, and there were definitely some 5* moments, but I think it may have been the most boring 5* I’ve ever watched. Was the time too attainable?

He had 4 down at Pratoni

I think they were referring to the horse, not Oli

I forgot to update this earlier, but to the folks who helped me with where to get fitted for a helmet further up in the thread, I did go to Fair Hill Saddlery and the CO rep fitted me and I got my new skull cap  I ended up with the Four Star because it fit my head shape the best, and she custom fitted it with some taping etc. The reps were so knowledgeable.

Better boring than carnage. I thought it was spectacular. Tim Price looked like he asked for a long spot going over and into the water at the Chesapeake Crab. Horse caught his belly on the top of the crab, wracking his stifles and barely made it. Recovered and the rest was smooth. That horse saved himself and Tim.

How big is he?

Right? He looked like a powder keg!

Impressed also.

I thought it was fun to watch. A few hairy moments, and it did shake up the standings some, but everyone got home safe.

It checked all my boxes for a good day.

Plus the course was tiring enough that much of the influence of today may materialize in tomorrow’s show jumping.

Curious to see the spectator count for the day- it didn’t feel as busy as last year. Possibly because of the increase of shuttles so not as many folks walking around. All around it was a great day, a little warm! I think the organizers really listened and improved upon last year. My only complaint is that it went by too quickly :-)!!
