24' Wide Barns?

Thought I’d throw up my barn for consideration. We had it built before we moved into the house, but I was very happily surprised with how it came out. It’s a 24 x 48 pole barn with 12 foot run in on the stall side, then the stalls, then a 12 foot aisle. It’s not fancy, but is very light and airy and I’m thrilled with it.

This was right when it was done, but before we quickly reminded the builder that we needed kick walls on the run-in walls.

That’s bright and airy, indeed! I know in my part of the world, that would be cold. And, I have to say, ha ha, I know my horse would see those low walls as only a mild irritant! He’d just rise up and hop from stall to stall, visiting, and then right out into the aisle to investigate buckets and hay bales. But its a really sweet barn, gosh its bright and pleasant.

Thank you Kate! Funny about your horse and the walls. Thankfully, I haven’t had a problem with that. However, we did go up a little higher on the wall between the stalls and the one at the end I use for grain/hay/tack storage. It was definitely too easy for them to reach over and help themselves to the hay.
