Cattle guard images.

Cattle guards make it possible to cross through a fenceline without a gate. There are few cattle, horses or any other creature that will step on them.

On a ranch, gaurds are often preferable to gates. Gates fall into disrepair. People leave them open, hopefully unintentionally. Escaping cattle can be a nightmare to recover.

Cattle appear to be allowed to cross these highways. The fence is perpendicular to the road. Hazardous night driving with cattle possibly on the road.

A friend of mine lost a horse to a cattle grid. Came out in the morning and both front legs broken, very traumatic.

There is a poster on TikTok called Foxtrot Equine who has been posting about this guy.
She reports that he is putting up GoFundMe requests, begging for money, that he now wants $60,000.00 to buy a ā€œconditioned horseā€ and a pack animal, and that all the money will go to the animals. Meanwhile, as of today, his TikTok still says ā€œAll donations go to beerā€

Maybe heā€™s had an epiphany that Falcon wasnā€™t quite ready to be sacrificed for his insane adventure. Nothing like retroactive planning.

I hope heā€™s marooned in a dusty hamlet in the middle of nowhere.

By the way, that avatar image is an interesting choice. Is this how he envisions himself?

FE on TT also reported that Mr. Yahoo had a talk with a sheriff, and was told the horse was not in condition to proceed. A while later, he mounted up.

Hereā€™s video from someone else.

I know. Iā€™m diving in the holeā€¦

Itā€™s reported that he lied to the original owners who sold him the horse.

Signed.

And I donā€™t think the request for $60,000 is because heā€™s had an epiphany and realizes now that heā€™s a dodo, but because heā€™s 1) getting flak about Falconā€™s condition, maybe about 2 percent, and 2) greed, maybe about 98 percent.

And with any new horses he still wouldnā€™t know what he was doing.

Oh, for sure greed. The Great Motivator among stupid, arrogant humans. However heā€™s come to this realization, I hope Falcon has a soft landing.

And good lord, I hope he doesnā€™t end up with GFM contributors subsidizing the $60,000.

I hope he finds out, that the way to make $60,000 in horses, is to start out with $120,000.

So does ā€œtoo raw to rideā€ refer to his horses back at the end of all this? Itā€™s a pretty stupid name to start with.

This is assuming that any donations go to actual horses, not beer. And that he changes his attitude that horses donā€™t need to be fed, ditch grass is enough, and that he doesnā€™t want to carry any water or food into the desert.

What I suspect will actually happen is that someone who stops to ā€œhelpā€ along his route will trade one of their horses for a greatly-diminished Falcon, and Knucklehead will continue on his way, mental state completely unchanged.

ETA: Iā€™m hoping ā€œtoo raw to rideā€ will come to describe Knuckleheadā€™s nether regions.

In one of his vids (Day 3, Making Friends with Cattle Ranchers) he says he is riding raw because his jeans are worn to X#$%. Rancher drives him to Walmart for new Wranglers. What a loadā€¦

From FTE on TT: ā€œFor those who have been asking, ā€œHow do I help?ā€ This. Report his Venmo and CashApp. Dont let him scam good hearted people for his mistake. Its the only way to stop this ride dead.ā€

Thank dog for FTE. Sheā€™s pointed out that heā€™s buying guns with Venmo.

I hope not for Cosplay Cowboy veterinary treatment.

Please donā€™t say that. He wonā€™t know how.

(I bought the book ā€œWildā€, about a womanā€™s backpacking trek up a California trail to Portland. In a part where she is remembering an incident from her young adulthood, she described having to put down her late motherā€™s very elderly mare (Saddlebred - Found her in the registry!). That part of the book really got to me and in re-reading, I always have to skip over that part! :astonished:  )

Iā€™m hoping heā€™s 2raw2reproduce.

I think heā€™s unrealistically optimistic with his plan to sell the footage to Netflix. Setting aside the problem with the animal abuse, hours and hours of Go Pro footage of a person traveling solo through even the prettiest wild country does not riveting viewing make. Even the most desperately bored channel surfer is going to tire rapidly of ā€œoh look, cows!ā€ and go find something else to do.

Not under the name 2raw or 2raw2ride, that I can find.

However there a request for a Dakota 38 plus Spiritual Ride, to fund a long distance ride of 330 miles, nothing to do with the thread topic. Are they prepared? No ride date, few details provided.

Oh well, donā€™t need another rabbit hole. There are so many.

A sort of update from the 2raw2ride subreddit ā€¦

First ā€¦ some photos of 2Raw were location-stamped ā€œSterling Cityā€ (these are NOT those photos). Second, the information on 2Raw & Falcon/Shiok will be in my next post.

Downtown Sterling City, TX ā€¦ not that he will go through downtown ā€¦ (Yes, TX has tons of small towns with a downtown much like this one, this is typical. Your nightmares are true.)
image

Where it is on google maps ā€¦ and yep, he appears to be tracking Hwy 87, for now. [I swear that I am not NOT not going down another map analysis rabbit hole as to why he wouldnā€™t continue up the panhandle on navigable roads like this one. Not yet, anyway. <cough cough>]

image

So in the last 3 weeks or so (I donā€™t know the start date) he has traveled about 250 miles, or apprx. 12 miles per day.

Given that we are aware of one stop of several days, it is possible that he is actually making considerably more miles on the days he is riding.

The next map-worthy town is Forsan, about 33 miles from Sterling City, on the edge of Big Spring. If there have been a few days delay in posting it is possible that he is in the Big Spring area now.

This is the learning-curve part of any ride. But is he going up the learning curve at all?

subreddit update to be continued ā€¦
