The funny thing is, the internet posseās efforts against this guy DO make for a potentially compelling Netflix show.
This is straight up āDonāt F*ck With Catsā 2.0, just without the murdery bit (so farā¦this nightmare is still young ).
At this point heās a pin cushion (voodoo doll).
Hadnāt thought of it that way butā¦ you may be right. On all points!
He posted some campsite photos 4 hours ago but didnāt mention where he was camping.
Some things about why this whole thing would appeal to this guy and possibly others in his mindset ā¦ Itās a DIY gig, beginning to end.
He selected himself. He didnāt have to win over anyone else to get the spot.
He canāt be fired. As we are seeing.
The working conditions are whatever he wants them to be. If he wants to modify them, he is finding that yes, he can do that.
He self-reports his progress and quality of work. Others may also express opinions, but those are outside of his own communications feed. He doesnāt care about them anyway.
His co-workers canāt rat him out. (Or can they ??? Quits, escapes, lameness.)
He creates his own publicity. Both the content and the timing. He shows what he wants to show, excludes what he doesnāt. Although we are seeing that heās a bit clueless about reading a room.
The job is over when he decides it is over. Although by publicizing his destination and time limit, he may have boxed himself in a little bit, but he does seem to be finding work arounds.
But ā how does he get paid? We may never know the full story on this aspect.
He gets paid, at least partly, in ego boosts. Remember, the guyās been on national news, had numerous newspaper and internet articles written about him.
And so many people have given him so much stuff.
And itās still going on. Pretty heady stuff, if you ask me. Attention, attention, attention; to add to the control, control, control you mentioned.
Pretty good for a 24-year-old, wouldnāt you say?
Itās creative, Iāll give him that.
He could be a fair Youtuber if he wanted to be. That might be his next ambition if nothing else comes of this. And thereās Twitter & The Gram. Plenty of attention there, if he has something to offer that the audience thinks is interesting.
I suspect that ā in his mind ā heās showing his acting chops along with everything else. Offers will be pouring in. In his mind.
But ā I donāt know much about movie-making, but I do know that the money behind a project is sensitive to the reliability of the star. The fact that this guy did not do the prep work, made bad choices of his most critical material, and now is skipping on the actual journey, might not be thought as the one they want to depend on for an important gig. Even as a supporting part and not the star. I guess we will see.
Absolutely this. In his mind, this (poorly planned, horribly executed) adventure has been one long audition.
Well, maybe itās just me, but I really donāt think heās that good looking to be so full of himself. And, thereās just something about him that makes me think that if he ever does get married, heās gonnaā beat the crap out of the poor victim.
I do think Cereal is having an emotional crisis of some sort thatās being acted out in the ride. Very often people with issues are a bit off-putting. When the issues are just building you canāt really put your finger in it, but they seem off. Then a couple years later you hear they had a big mental break and were hospitalized, etc. In your 20s is one of the life periods a lot of mental health issues crystalize and become obvious and cause trouble.
He posted a new video to explain some things, like why heās hauling the horses a bit.

Agreed, and I suspect that the people responsible for casting reality TV would see it, too. While they want drama, he gives off a vibe that when he breaks, itāll be violent. Thatās not good for anybody.
Just the facial expressions from the videos where he has talked about being wronged by the people looking out for his horsesā welfare are scary.
Well, IG now wants me to sign up.
NTYVM.
Could you provide the Cliff Notes version for those who have enuff SM w/o adding another?
TIA
I donāt care to speculate on his future as a TV Star, SO, or anything other than an interest on how the plays out on this escapade.
What a poser.
Heās driving a truck in the video ā and it looks like one-a plush type editions. A much later model than mine, for sure.
Title: āWhy I Trailered from NM to WYā
In a very manly and responsible sounding voice ā¦
"When my great grandfather decided to create this family tradition where the eldest son of each generation had to do some sort of rite of passage by going on a life changing journey, he was specifically vague about it. And I understand why now. Riding and taking care of horses 24-7, for weeks and months at a time ā¦ "
Then it cuts off for me. Not showing comments, either. Also only video of him driving with the highway in front ā¦ no horses in the video. Itās all about him. Still. Of course.
OK so his great-grandpa was a poser, too.
We could come up with a Top 10 Reasons Knucklehead Pivoted & Flexed To Trailering. Or Top 25 or Top 50 ā¦ no upper limit on those reasons.
Here are a few to start ā¦
1 - His backside couldnāt handle it anymore. (In fairness, mine would have given out long ago.)
2 - Turns out casually dropping in on a local horse auction and buying one like it was a manufactured item at Walmart didnāt turn out so successfully. Pete was showing his total unsuitability and inability to do this task.
3 - The horses were quitting on him regularly, balking and evading. Showing uncooperative behaviors when saddled & bridled. Horses will do that if they feel totally overworked and pressured into work they arenāt up to do.
4 - He got a look at the mountains around Raton and said āoh hell noā which was the first smart thing heās done.
5 - He was thinking of replacing these two horses with two others that are much more prepared. And went into shock at the sight of horse prices these days.
6 - He looked at a map. And said to himself, man, I should have looked at this more closely before I left.

I tagged the wrong poster, sorry SLW, I meant to tag @2DogsFarm
The next time some moron decides to do a long trip unprepared, can they just aim for hiking the Appalachian Trail? And leave the poor creatures at home.
So I watched the full reel. It wasnāt horrible.
He admits that horsemanship was harder than he thought and that he has made a lot of mistakes.
I think that part of the lesson is good, although there is some footage of Pete that made me cringe a bit. He then talks about the people he has met along the way.
It might just be for show, sure, but in at least this video, he seems to have gotten that he has to be more practical, and hopefully has learned some things about horse care.
Yeah thanks for the full video length ā¦ the rest of it made him look a lot better.
Yay ā the horses get to skip 700 miles.
So I think that the horseback journey has been reconsidered ā thatās not a bad thing at all. I wonder if he will ever share all of his reasons.
I think that putting together just the pieces we know, the reality of horses has come home. That it canāt be all about him, minimizing the horses as just necessary equipment.
Plus there is every possibility that one or both horses has an issue that was stopping him for long enough to realize that the whole thing was becoming rather futile.
Horses will gain fitness with regular work, of course. But no creature on the planet can go from a life of some exercise and mostly hanging about to a steady grind of 20-30 miles per day, indefinitely, even with an occasional rest day. There will be mental and physical breakdowns.
I donāt mind a journey of learning. IF that is happening and if it continues.
