2Raw2Ride Social Media

Looking forward to reading updates once someone shares them here.

You mean post on tiktok? Are they using any hashtags other than #2raw2ride?

I can view shared posts, but don’t subscribe to tiktok itself. I do have a twitter account, though. Will check there.

The updates are still coming in but the brief of them are:

  1. Body condition is fading fast. The backbone is protruding. There are scraps, edema, etc.
  2. He was told to get the horse evaluated by the vet. The vet said he was underweight and shouldn’t do the journey.
  3. Cyril rested for a few days, at that time video of his body condition was observed and people requested he not go.
  4. Cyril left yesterday to continue his journey. He denied food & water that was offered to him for the upcoming ride through the desert. He thinks this ride is his destiny.
  5. He plans to sell exclusive footage to Netflix & auction off Shiok & his equipment after a successful ride.
  6. Someone also had Shiok bought for $20k but they wouldn’t sign an NDA.

That’s really all the updates we got so far from the videos.

I am in sales and its the end of the month, so I may not be as quick as others, but Foxtrotequine stated

that Cyril has not posted his footage is because he wants to release it to netflix as exclusive footage to do a doc or some sort of series on his travels,

He has been offered up to $20k for Falcon and declined it

Was orded to go to the vet’s by the local sheriff where the vet said the horse will not make it and they weighed him. He is 850lbs currently. They left the vet’s

He was offered food and water to take with him, he declined.

Someone sheltered him and Falcon and Cryil did NOTHING while the barn owner feed and took care of Falcon.

Cryil is broke. And is playing to auction everything; tack, Falcon, etc at the end because he will be “famous” after the ride.

ETA. I hit send too late.

Colossal Asshat only begins to describe this jerk :rage:
I only hope TX horsepeople can do something to stop him before he kills the horse.
His (2Raw’s) fate? đŸ€·I couldn’t care less.

This is a golden opportunity to get Cyril to change his mind. If Netflix and every other publication avenue will tell him now that they will never, ever use his footage, they will not publish a chronicle of horse abuse, he looses his reason to continue.

Unfortunately he may already have had a conversation with someone either at Netflix or that he thinks is connected to Netflix that have encouraged him. That could be behind his renewed commitment, while changing his plans for ongoing sm attention.

So this is rough, but
don’t anyone buy the horse. Not for $20k or $200k. That is funding for the next bad idea on horseback. Some other horse will take Shiok’s place. Although if the world can be convinced not to get behind him again, that would help.

I hear you on this. I already posted to Netflix’s account along with others to NOT entertain this guy’s ideas.

Also, he was rejected to be a cast member on Love is Blind. If Netflix did not think he would make ‘good TV’ on that show, why would they entertain him about his journey. I think he is out of his mind.

Not sure if this video has been shared already.
Just goes to show what an asshat Cyril is.

Video below: 8 min 10 seconds of a knowledgeable evaluation of Cyril’s ride plan by a truly experienced long rider.

He gives many details as to what specific mistakes Cyril is making, from horse selection to tack to refusing advice to etc.

:50 seconds - This long rider says that he spends twice the amount of time planning & preparing (including conditioning) as the actual duration of a trip. A good bit longer prep time for longer trips.

4:05 - Explains “the difference between a mistake and a fuck-up”.

5:50 - “I’m not saying don’t do a long ride,” just do it next year after better preparation. “It’s not too late” to “salvage your public reputation”.

“Horse welfare comes before all else. Do no harm to your horse.”

Doesn’t have the right horse, gear, attitude, any number of things.

Unfortunately they put a picture of Knucklehead on the video cover, as it were. That photo is not the long rider on the video.

I need to stop reading the updates
this whole thing is really upsetting but I keep hoping that it will end well for Falcon. I have a gut feeling it’s not going to.

I didn’t see it mentioned here
but is this on PETAs radar??

I wonder if he has his ducks in a row enough to get a brand inspection done. This is necessary to legally cross through different inspection districts in NM. Maybe this could be used as a way to stop him. Maybe the horse could be confiscated for crossing districts without the proper paperwork. If he does try to get a brand inspection done, maybe the inspector could, I dunno
be unavailable for the appointment for an indefinite period of time.

Edited to add: Not sure where specifically he plans to cross through NM, but here is a link that contains the inspection districts, and the numbers of who to call to report incidents in the field. https://www.nmlbonline.com/inspectors

I really do think this could be a feasible way to stop him. It just takes someone picking up the phone and having a conversation with inspectors in the state to let them know the situation, and to keep an eye out for him. They may or may not be able or willing to do anything, but I can say from firsthand experience that the brand inspector I used in NM was wonderful and really seemed to care about animals, so maybe this could be something worth exploring.

Now, if he has a brand inspection already done, then this option is out
but I would be kind of surprised if he got one done. I am originally from Texas, which is not a brand inspection state, and I didn’t know brand inspections even existed 'till I moved to New Mexico.

Here in the unsearchable labyrinth of horsey social media  I will put forward a completely unqualified, unverified guess that YES, something mental health is out of whack with him. And I think the quote above summarizes just one of many HUGE tells that this is likely to be so.

He is clearly disconnected from the reality of what he is doing. He seems completely delusional about what is happening with himself and his horse.

Sometimes it isn’t persistance and dedication. Sometimes it is just another imaginary path to an irrational obsession.

  • Unrealistic plan. Even if he continues as he has been, there is little to no chance that he gets to Seattle at all, much less in 100 days.

  • Every evidence of the likelihood of failure leads to some change in objective by Cyril with a new path to fame & fortune from this ride, but that is equally unachievable.

  • No real preparation.
No plan, no research, no conditioning, no introductory experience, no proper gear, and no realistic means to gather or manage these things during the journey.
No understanding of what the horse needs day-to-day. Not much plan for himself, either.
And apparerently not much in the way of a navigable route, although that is still to show up once they are in more difficult terrain.

  • Very few supplies and what he has are mostly wrong for the task. A screwdriver for use with horse shoes? That one fact alone is seriously telling of the multiple disconnects of reality, knowledge and preparation.

  • Repeatedly turns down in-hand offers of necessary supplies that he does not have. Turns down immediately-available assistance.

  • Refuses knowledgeable advice to help him succeed. Doesn’t listen to experienced long riders. Disregards a veterinarian that has actually examined the horse after 2 weeks of riding.

  • What he does request is also disconnected from reality. “Beer money?” How is that message aimed at gathering the support that he and his horse will need? Maybe he thinks he is still at a pub in Austin, doing this in his head?

Etc. Obviously this just scratches the surface of how this “ride” is fated to end badly – AND how obvious that is, even if someone doesn’t know much about horses, but just pays attention and uses common sense about Cyril’s behavior and communications.

It is very sad and unfortunate that in this country, this kind of horse abuse is so hard to intervene or stop. No matter how obvious it is, or how many expert opinions explain how abusive it is, we just don’t have the laws for it. Maybe this disaster will help future efforts at legislation, as that does seem to be required to save horses.

Just imo. I am not a psychologist or in any way qualified to diagnose anyone. Just a reader and podcast listener.

According to experienced long riders, his horse is the kind that wears down and wears out, not the kind that conditions up to it.

Take a listen to the long-rider video posted up-thread. He explains why a TWH is not at all the horse one wants for a ride like this.

And he explains what 2Raw is doing wrong that will wear the horse down more & faster – wrong tack; inadequate care; inadequate rest; etc. The horse’s condition is actually working toward a serious abuse case.

Infamy is clearly a good thing to him.

Yes. You need feed to build muscle. It’s the difference between a fit athlete doing the Appalachian Trail with a bottomless supply of protein bars, and a death march in wartime.

I think we have found the Nick Peronace of endurance riders.

If he really thinks of this ride as his “destiny,” he’s going to be a lot harder to stop. And encouragement re. a documentary, fame, monetary gain, etc. have already occurred. He’s gotten national headlines, a lot of social media attention, and, apparently, an offer of $20,000 for his poor horse.

Yes, he’s been uncomfortable and the horse isn’t going to last, but he seems somewhat motivated and the country he’s going through has a lot of horses he could potentially trade for.

Yeah, I did and then deleted my post. I am not on twitter, so I don’t see 2R2R’s videos. You are quick, OandO!

There are just more and more red flags. It’s one thing to retire young from IT when your stock options vest, and another to abruptly quit your job and be broke in a couple months. It’s one thing to plan a grand athletic extreme adventure and another to press on towards “destiny” in a way that is starting to look suicidal.

It’s one thing to sign a documentary contract in the planning stages of an adventure and another to imagine that fame and fortune will “discover” you.

Btw there are more than one kind of documentary. One is, cool dude doing admirable stuff. Another is, how did yet another American nutbar end up dead in the back country, like the dude in Alaska eaten by his “pet” grizzly bears.
