3 Foot D3 EQ Handozer Arena Drag

Does anyone have a 3 Foot D3 EQ Handozer? I am looking for feedback on them for arena work. We have a small (100x135) sand ring and want to pull it behind our 26hp garden tractor. Not ideal but we didnt have funds for a bigger tractor. We have access to one for bushhogging pastures, but I dont want to borrow it every week to do our ring.

Alternatively, are we better off with a chain drag like this one at TSC? I dont want our ring to get hard and I can’t quite wrap my head around the chain ones-do they did in at all without weight or do they just level the surface?

How wide is your tractor? I have the TSC drag, it is heavy. Problem is, going around turns it drifts to the inside and I can’t smooth out my tire tracks. I wish it were 5-6 feet wide.

I can’t imagine how a 3.5 foot drag could work.

Jersey Fresh - I purchased the Handozer to drag my small dressage arena. It has worked very well on the washed sand/pea gravel footing. The tines are adjustable enough to do a deep drag that keeps the footing from compacting and it pulls easily with our garden tractor. I found the chain drag to be too heavy and I can’t justify buying a tractor right now. I’m very happy with the Handozer.

OK great thank you. We are going to look into it.

You’re going to be leaving tractor tire tracks all over with a 3’ arena tool, I would think, negating what you’re doing with the drag??

You can do a 6.5’ width with one of these with your tractor. Might be a better option?

By garden tractor I meant riding lawn mower. It has a enough HP to pull the Handozer. Sorry if that was confusing.

We also only have a garden tractor (26hp) and the rascal, while great, is more than we can spend right now and would require us to borrow our neighbors tractor every week.

Ah, I see. I thought you were talking about something like this.

You’ve got a riding lawnmower with a fair amount of HP instead?

Ours is basically that JD but a bit more HP and no PTO. Considered a garden tractor not a subcompact.

Is it wider than 3’?

If your drag is narrower than the rear wheels of your tractor, how can you drag effectively? You’ll just be compacting your footing with every pass.

I have been going through the same dilemma - looking at the Handozer as well as the DR Power Grader 48". Resurrecting this thread. I can’t spend the money for a Rascal since I have had to pay for an outdoor arena and fencing. What did you eventually do Jersey Fresh? In addition looking for input for an arena conditioner that is under $1000. I have 2" of sand/ clay footing and don’t want to rip the base. Ideas? We will be dragging this with our John Deere 2305.

I bought one for my small arena. My problem was that the lawn tractor could pull the weight on it’s own, it didn’t have enough traction and power to pull it through the sand. I have a John Deere L120. I decided to cut my losses and ended up letting the grass grow in the arena and mowing it regularly. Hopefully I’ll end up with a very well draining grass arena. I usually haul out when it’s too wet to ride in my pastures.
