5 panels test

@Simkie I guess you missed this. Although I fail to see how the offspring of a n/n and n/n could be n/h. And if the horse is registered aqha, and has Impressive in his pedigree, his papers will have the HYPP results on them.

That isn’t the original poster, Palm Beach. That’s someone else who’s trying to explain to you that vets are not infallible.

Regardless, the OP only has to look at the registration papers to determine HYPP status, and then test for whatever else. She does not need the 5 panel test.

It may be less expensive to five panel test the horse versus testing for everything else piece meal.

Agree.

5-panel through AQHA is $100 if you’re a member, $155 if you’re not.
Animal Genetics has the same 5 for $95, though AQHA wouldn’t recognize the results which doesn’t really matter in this case.

PSSM1 through AG is $40.

MH and HERDA are both $35 through AG. There’s no need to test for HERDA, since he’s non-breeding, and since the sire at least is clear. MH is possible, so ask if the dam was tested for that.

GBED isn’t needed for a non-breeder.

So of the 5, you can get MH and PSSM1 done for $75.

PSSM2 is another beast, not offered through AQHA at all.
