56 Foals at Bowie Texas Livestock auction

I have heard of all of that. What I’ve seen is people don’t view the reservation horses as worthy. I knew someone with a reservation mustang and people in the mustang community were pretty nasty about it.

Why is this baby still hanging around then? How can the justify it not being euthanized?

The rescue got him out and took him to the vet. Turns out it was an infection around the bone and they were able to shoot antibiotics into the leg.

Wow, that’s some weird discrimination, isn’t it?

Doesn’t this just feel like it’s going to become another “52 free thoroughbreds”?

That was exactly my thought!

I’m not sure id do regional limb perfusion over euthanasia in those circumstances on a foal I had bred myself and wanted very much. This is where some rescues cross the line for me.

I respect your viewpoint… just passing on the info that I know. My involvement really was just taking in four babies, fed one time and had a positive experience with this particular rescue. I am not a rescue, just help when time and resources allow.

I have flushed a joint on a foal I bred. He is now 25 and sitting in my pasture happy and still sound. He did have a normal IgG and it was a trauma induced joint infection.
Big difference from these foals who I doubt even had IgG’s pulled.

Of course, it’s great that you took some of these babies are are going to raise. And I know the rescues are beholden to their donors who often expect extensive veterinary intervention for every animal. I think I’m just developing a jaundiced view of social media.

I agree with this, cold hearted me would think that with 56 foals euthanizing one instead of spending money with extensive vet intervention would be the smarter decision.

If the resources are available to save all, then absolutely. If resources are limited, then euthanasia is reasonable.
