A pre-Chrissy cyclone! Update: 100-year flood event and still raining

That footage is so heartbreaking. Cairns is (was) an amazing, beautiful place. `Stay safe and smart. So glad you got your mare and foal to better quarters. Jingles to you and your family.

She’s further south, not affected by this bit of weather, but probably had bad weather herself as some parts of SEQ have also had some massive storm events this week/weekend.

It has stopped raining for the moment where I am, which is in the driest of the areas. Parts of Cairns has had 260ml in the last 16 hours. Looking on the radar, there is another big system descending on the area from the north. We will be on the edges of it, but Cairns and its tributaries are going to be in trouble, coupled with a king tide tomorrow at 2pm. Thank you for your thoughts! There are a lot of hurting horses and horse owners in the area right now, lots of horses in carports and flooded paddocks and flooded stables.

Very sorry to hear of this. Sending jingles to you all.

I’d be doing more than crying if I were you. If I could help, I would. Unfortunately I’m a couple continents away. Sending virtual hugs is the best I can do.
