A second MIPS Skull Cap exists on the market with ASTM approval - Champion Revolve

Sorry, you misunderstood me. I did try it on as soon as I got it. Thought it fit okay and thought the movement was due to the MIPS having never even tried one on before. Gave my horses time off around that time so I didn’t ride in it. Rode in it, talked to my friend and she mentioned her’s fit as snug as her other COs which made me realize it was not moving because of the MIPS.

I’ve said its my fault and I commented on here to warn others that since these helmets are so hard to get, it might be a good idea until they are easier to stock so that you do have a chance of getting a helmet that fits correctly. I would have kept thinking mine was just the MIPS making it feel bigger than my others had I not spoke to a friend.

I’m glad you get a wide selection. Our local tack store here has none (and hasn’t had any since their release) and the Dover in Cinci seems to never have anything in stock.

And yes. That was Dover’s suggestion to me. Pantyliners. And when I said I wasn’t comfortable with that their other suggestion was to drop it and fill out an accident report.

I had a similar experience to Jersey Fresh, but mine was with Trauma Void. I went to a large retailer in town to try on. Was measured, tried on the measured size and the one above and below. The salesperson stated that it “would feel different because of the MIPS” and was told the sliding effect I was getting was because of the MIPS system. I wasn’t entirely sold so I came home and emailed the Trauma Void company. Their rep got back to me in short order and told me the helmet would fit a bit differently to what I was used to in a traditional helmet, but should not slip & slide on the head. She is also the one who told me about the two different fitting liners. In a couple of weeks I went back to the large retailer to try on again and bought the size of Trauma Void I was measured for. I subsequently went to ride and despised the thing. It felt like it was sitting atop my head and teetering (for lack of a better word), the back of my skull felt exposed and I was seriously disappointed. A friend looked at me and said it looked like it was sitting too high on the top of my head. I tried the other liner which only made things worse.

So, here I sit, sadder & wiser (and more broke). I am really disappointed that retailers are not better trained in how these helmets should fit, and how helmets in general should fit. I do think this is a helmet that would never fit my type head & it seems like there would be a way to tell that. I am comfortable in CO skulls (but not in GR8s) & all types of IRH helmets I have ever tried fit well. I assumed this meant I had a long narrow, but after special ordering a long narrow One K with disasterous result, I have absolutely no idea & suppose will just need to stick to brand. I do want to partake of this new technology but until there is a better understanding of what is a good fit I suppose I will do without.

Guess I could sell the Trauma Void as gently used (with less than 2 hours on it). 😏

I know a LOT of people who would buy one used. Send details. HAPPY to help!!

I bought a Trauma Void on sale (brown) in my normal size. It’s too small, so trying to exchange for a size bigger.

At the risk of suggesting something you’ve already done, did you try it with both of the different liners?

Yes, thanks to this thread I was aware of the two liners! But after I got it, I went reading more reviews and found others had suggested to size up when buying. Oh well, this is part of why I prefer to buy in-store but these weren’t available near me.

Oh that’s good. Hope you can exchange!!!

My awesome local tack shop helped me fit/buy a MyPS, and the store owner told me that the helmet is actually made as a S/M/L shell, with a specific liner to make the precise fit of a 7 or 7 1/8 or what have you. I was worried about my MyPS actually being too snug (despite being my normal CO size), and she said if I ended up feeling like it was too tight she could order me a liner for the size up. Maybe it’s worth it to see if Dover or a local shop might be able to order you a different liner?
