I am replying to a very old thread, but I recently bought this book at a used book store and tried to research Kerri. I couldn’t find any record of her - what happened to her after the book?
I can’t answer the question about Kerri and Cinema, but I do know that Stephanie, the girl from “A Very Young Dancer”, took her own life a couple of years ago.
Oh, that is so sad.

Thanks to this thread, I Googled more about Stephanie’s life. I can’t read the NY Times paywalled article but this is not paywalled (horses references, btw!):
This was very sad to read and I didn’t realize (ha) that the ballet book was more popular than the riding book. I read all of the Very Young series as a kid, and I remember that my favorites were (in order) Rider, Dancer, Skater, Actor, Circus Performer. Given the prominence of George Morris in A Very Young Rider and the tragic fate of so many of those involved in both Rider and Dancer, it’s a sad footnote for the books that inspired me in my childhood. I grew up in the 80s, but that made the very 70s appearance of the book even more foreign and enchanting.
