Adequan v Legend v Pentostan v Cosequin? Oral v IM?

Both Petey and Goober got their hocks injected this week.

Both have had extensive testing/vetting.

The is a long and happy/sad thread on Goober.

Petey has had full lameness work up including flexions. e had x-rays and sonogram of RH stifle. As a result of those tests, his stifle was injected. There was great improvement for a month – and then he backslid to being lame on the LH. We couldn’t figure out which side was compensating for the other. So we started again, and blocked the LH hock with a short acting (2 weeks) drug (I forget what the vet used.)

We saw lots of improvement, and we waited for 3+ weeks before making a decision to inject his LH hock. (both inside and outside, but I am not sure if 3 or 4 joints were injected).

I am very happy with the results, and he has started walking under tack for 2 weeks. Now I need to ask the vet if we should back up the injections with an IV or feed through monthly Adequan. He LOVES being ridden again.

Goober is also under saddle at the walk for 15 minutes each ride He will increase the time by 5 minutes, every 4 rides. I estimate that he will trot for 3 minutes each ride by the time we get to September. He is so damn cute. His ears are so far forward they would break if he tried to go any farther with them .
