That must have felt like a very long 15 minutes waiting alone for the cavalry to show.
I’m so glad all turned out well.
Danged horses, already!

That was a very scary read! I am very glad that you and Bob are both on the mend after your ordeal. Thanks for sharing your lessons learned. I am very sorry you had to learn them the hard way, but maybe your cautionary tale will protect a future horse or rider from even worse.
Jingles to you and Bob for a smooth and total recovery!
W --old and wise. @2DogsFarm asked which of my two retirees were coming out of retirement to do one or two trail classes at the July Ranch Horse Show —it’s W --my fox hunter for 25 years . . .he’ll rock the house in western tack!
W is built!
@quietann @2DogsFarm --to take W to the Ranch Horse show, he needed to be certified by the ARHA (American Ranch Horse Association). To that, he had to be “Ranch Bred” so AQHA, APHA, or similar --no papers, there was a long process of certification that involved photos and videos for grade horses to be certified as Ranch Type --probably to keep miniature horses like 2DogsFarm Bugs out of the ring. --Anyway, W is AQHA registered, or was when I bought him 22 years ago . . .I just never took the step to send in his transfer of ownership. Oops. Called AQHA and ta-da! Yes, they will take a 20+year old transfer of ownership, if the seller is still alive . … and he was! So I sent in my crusty old papers, got the AQHA sorted and send in to ARHA all the proper documentation, along with $50 and officially “Poco Blackburn 40” (aka to me as WD-4D) is now an official Quarter Horse and official Ranch Horse. Better late than never. I had to get him a health certificate to travel out of state (10 miles over the line --eye roll) —vet looked at him and said, “asthmatic and arthritic but he’ll get by,” and gave me a health paper. The asthma comes and goes and the arthritis is almost unnoticeable in hot, dry weather.
Hope you have fun!
I am also glad both you and Bob were not any more seriously injured and are healing.
Good luck to you both! I cringed reading your original post, but am so relieved that all came out of it relatively unscathed! Good luck at your show.
Me too!!
