ALERT! ALERT! SPAMMERS TAKE OVER COTH!!

just curious - since the spam is here and not in your own email why not just not click on the link in the post? seems simple enough?

and thanks Mod1 - you guys do a great job.

How about not letting a new user have a signature until they reach a certain number of posts? Not sure it would help, but it might make the site less attractive.

I browse from my phone most of the time. It’s not the most precise. It took me three tries to click “reply with quote.”

First of all I know the mods are working to correct the problem and get spam removed, but I AM SO SICK OF SPAM!:mad::mad:

Do these creeps think that there is actually some benefit from plastering their crap all over? There must be some sort of benefit for them, but for the life of me I can’t see a person with even half a brain purposely clicking a link in their spam. I do get the accidentally part, as my phone does the same thing.

Apparently there are just enough vaporheads out there who truly believe that clicking on a senseless thread started by someone with an unpronounceable username will indeed allow them to watch the latest big movie theater release for free. Otherwise this sort of spam wouldn’t keep happening.

All of the spam features were tested and functional, so we’re going to be tweaking one aspect of the system and implementing a new anti-spam measure over the next couple of days. Hopefully we should start to see a reduction in these obnoxious postings (the spam itself, not the questions about the spam!) soon.

Thanks ~

We just activated a new anti-spam feature, so and it looks to be working – so we’ll make sure everything is operating properly with it over the next few days and that it isn’t negatively affecting anything else.

Fingers crossed! Thanks for your patience ~

Actually it has more to do with how many links get posted, inbound links, and attepmts to garner pagerank via keyword loaded inbound links… than actually expecting someone to click on them… though a payload is ready in case someone conveniently does… or a browser preloads available links.

Looks like they programmed around the system… or hired people to do it manually. Have you folks considered using RBL-based ACL’s?
