I’ve heard of people not soaking alfalfa cubes but the idea makes me nervous. My barn always always always soaks cubes due to the fact that they can (not sure if this is true or a myth, but it’s how we do it) expand a bit in their stomach. It is also a really good way to get water into a horse that doesn’t drink a lot. If you are going to feed beet pulp it NEEDS to be soaked, as that definitely expands a lot.
 Where in Canada do you live?! I’m in BC and one of our local places has 80lb alfalfa bales for $24.
I am in Ontario. If you are on FB, check out Ontario Hay Connection. Prices are currently elevated, as people are running out, and grass is only showing up now. I purchase in bulk during hay season, same producer for years.
Pellets purchased–pony was happy to eat them–let’s see how he does with them!
Thanks everyone!
