Allergic to stockties?

Wait wait wait–you’re a nurse?

Then you understand the things I need for better health:
a) mimosas, feather boas, and tiaras
b) moar cowbell!

How do I convince my doctor?

Try a silk stocktie. Not as practical but may be more comfortable.

What kind of shirt do you wear underneath. The shaped stock ties don’t actually touch much of your skin. I don’t bother with shirts. I wear a knitted mock turtleneck instead of a ratcatcher, and my stock doesn’t touch my skin at all.

Try that and see if the rubbing goes away.

Contact dermatitis? It’s not the fabric, nor the detergent used to clean it – it’s the contact and intermittent rubbing?

^^ By chance, is your skin on the dry side, like a fair skinned, freckled skin that doesn’t ‘shine’? Skin that doesn’t hold a lot of moisture can be more reactive to rubbing/irritation, and is worse in the winter when temps are cold and air is dry. For me its wool and only in winter.

** disclaimer ** this is based on online research I did trying to figure out a rash I was getting, only in the winter. I’m not a doctor, nor did I see a doctor. But as soon as I stopped wearing wool sweaters it went away. My rash was where the wool was rubbing: inside elbows and neckline. (I was wearing them everyday as my comfy clothes after work.) Once fully healed my skin was more tolerant, but I can’t overdo it.

SO… if this is the case then you would want to keep your skin as hydrated as possible. Mineral oil after the shower while skin is wet, pat skin dry (don’t rub), moisturize after that.
