Almost time for our annual Christmas herd

Not exactly on topic, but I LOVE how this new forum format handles photos! Those are all just beautiful shots, and being able to view them in the post is amazing. The last one with your mom and daughter makes me feel like I’m sitting at the table with them.

@PamnReba…I have to admit, I totally agree. I had to go to the tech/FAQ to realize how to add/post photos ( the ‘up’ arrow sign!) but was so pleased how much better they posted than in the older format!

I hope this link will work for the recipe:

be sure to have parchment paper, and follow instructions in how to handle dough…we always chill the dough portions after the standing at room temp for 2 hrs. sometimes overnight or for a couple days…seems to be manipulated better.

also: read thru the hints—most especially in dough handling . We like the fact they’re more ‘gingery’ than some so we don’t alter ingredient amounts.

I apply for a place in the barn.
With Bugs, my mini, who says to tell Demi “How you doin’, gawjuss?”

Through ALL fault of my own :smirk:
He now considers it his right to enter the barn with me, through the service door.
Then meander over to the stacked hay & riffle through the opened bale, while the Big Guys have to observe this Privileged Behavior from inside their stalls.
Mea Culpa :persevere:

Around here, mudbugs are a fresh water crayfish.

It is also my old horse when we have some moisture, like we did last night.
He was Mudbug this morning.

 me thinks we ALL have a Mudbug or two!

Thank you for the inspiration! I made my own (much simpler) herd, I am sure my barn mates will like them! I used the recipe you linked, though I did up the spice and added crystallized ginger (I like them spicy)I used a simple royal icing recipe, and left off sprinkles, mainly due to lack of time and it was only me decorating. I can see, in a better time, what a fun family/friend activity this would be. Thank you for sharing your original herd!
