Alpaca saddle blanket?

I know this is an old thread…but we are having alpaca saddle blankets made and I’ve just run across this thread. I’ve got some questions as we are alpaca folks and not horse folks…would love some input, if you don’t mind:
I wonder if those of you who have them are still pleased with them?
We are also trying to decide whether or not to put leather wear pads on them.
Yes, the price point is going to be high because of various factors…what would entice you to pay more?
These will be 100% alpaca with jute core.
All natural colors in nice patterns. 34" x 32"

Any input would be appreciated

I would pay more for an alpaca saddle blanket as long as I didn’t have to listen to the alpaca being shorn.

All shrieking aside, sheep’s wool works well for me. I pretty much don’t show, so I don’t really need a beautiful saddle blanket.

Anyway, I think the alpaca fiber horse gear (cinches, mecates and saddle blankets) are premium quality stuff. Good luck.

LOL…so true. Most of them take it like troopers but the ones that don’t like it shriek and spit vile green gastric juices. We will not package audio with the blankets.

I’ve had my alpaca pad for about a year and use it regularly and love it. It’s woven and has leather over withers & bottom edge. The horse I use it on would get extremely itchy & irritated with the wool felt pads I’d used on him, but no issues with the woven alpaca

We have had a big bunch of blankets made and have listed them on a online site for hand-made items. I suspect there are forum rules against advertising, but message me if you’re interested.
