It’s working here, but it’s not very clear and is buffering.
When I was trying to watch it, I heard the announcer giving results, and I thought the horse’s name was Rack On. I wondered who would give a hunter that name!
I know it came with the name “Crack On” but I’ve always had a hard time embracing that one!
That’s a very British expression for getting things done quickly!
The entries are so low at the National - how do they afford to have the show?
I’m just getting the slideshow:no:

I keep reading this name as “On Crack”…

I got it to work by clicking on the livefeed for the earlier session even though we should be in the 11am one.

Hey, there’s a Saddlebred named “Anne Kursinski” so why not…!
On the subject of crossovers, it’s worth noting that the shakeytail peeps and GP peeps are doing the change horses thing at this year’s NHS. Wed. evening I do believe. I’ll be there! Can’t wait!
As to entries: IMO Maclay Finals power the Natl Horse Show’s economy no matter where it is or who is running it. Entries were never that huge in the performance hunter divisions even BITD, except for the Jrs (who were all running their eq horses, since there were no warmup rounds). I hope people do start attending more though. Lord knows the mgr. and I have had our differences over the decades, but credit where it’s due, he is doing a FABULOUS job w/ this horse show, and everyone who goes there, either as spectator or competitor, or horse show parent, absolutely loves it. For me personally this venue walks ALL OVER the old MSG for convenience and cost, and the whole thing is just a blast from start to finish! This year Alltech is throwing a party in the parking lot and on the plaza all week so that should be fun as well.
Can’t wait!
Oh good- :applause: I thought that was awesome at Devon. Are the saddlebred people going to ride the GP horses this time  No offense to the shakeytails-- but I think it’s probably a bit easier to go from GP horse to saddlebred than the other way, unless they are sticking to the flat!

Actually YES they are!! I have no idea what height the fences will be set at - guess we will all have to wait and find out! I thought it was great at Devon but will be even better w/ the ASB peeps jumping!
From the press release:
American Saddlebred trainers Clark Clouse, Melinda Moore, Melissa Moore, and Stephanie Sedlacko will compete over a course of jumps. Following their jumping course, four Grand Prix Show Jumping riders, McLain Ward, Laura Kraut, Jen Alfano, and Hunt Tosh will compete aboard four Five-Gaited American Saddlebred Horses. Each American Saddlebred trainer will be paired with one of the show jumping riders and together, the team with the best combined score will be crowned the winner.
Huh. I wonder what horses the Saddlebred riders will show over jumps?
Props to them for taking a crack at it.

WOW! Those 4 saddlebred trainers are brave! I wouldn’t want to get on and try and jump around at the NHS if I was coming from a totally different discipline. I can’t wait to watch though. I wonder if they have any jumping background and/or if they will get more than the one evening warm-up that happened at Devon!
I also think its great that Mclain, Laura, and Jen wanted to do it again after Devon, and that Hunt wants to give it a try, too! It would be fantastic if the Saddlebreds managed to remain at the NHS for the future–I think it’s nice to cross the best with the best, especially at the National Horse Show.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they get in a couple of practice sessions with their jumper rider partners. In past years at WEF when there was a similar crossover class for dressage riders, everybody was practicing the other disciplines like mad the week before it. And some of the dressage riders had jumped in the past, especially if they started out as eventers.

Crack On would be a spectacular name for a jumper. But then if that one were competing in the jumpers, we’d wonder if it got lost on the way to the hunter ring.
Does anyone want to join me in my corner while I pout and whine about working on Maclay Sunday?

Any idea what night this is happening? Should be entertaining, for sure!

Nope. I’ve timed stuff perfectly. I’m getting a minor medical procedure Friday afternoon that will probably keep me to the couch all weekend. Guess what I’ll be doing…

I wouldn’t be so sure At Devon I saw some of the hunter/jumper riders having trouble getting the right gait at the right time and figuring out how a Saddlebred is ridden in a full bridle (it’s a much lighter feel, with a lot less curb, then what most people coming from a hunter/jumper background are used to). Each discipline definitely has it’s finer points that someone from the outside wouldn’t even think about until they actually tried it!
The Saddlebred trainers will be jumping a 3’ course.
This class at the National Horse Show will be tomorrow (Wednesday) evening.
At Devon the Saddlebreds loaned for the special class were all top end horses, current and former World’s Champions.

Last year I got pretty major surgery right before Harrisburg. I was on the couch with live feeds for all of indoor season haha!
Hope all goes well with your procedure.
