Alternatives to brushing teeth for cat?

Fish, maybe? I don’t know if fish backs would be TOO small. I would think fish ribs would be too tiny. You would probably be able to get them for free/cheap from any fish counter that breaks down their own whole fish.

Oh–you could always go with whole frozen rats or mice that are sold for snakes.

Or veal bones?

Unless it’s a large fish, yeah, I think most of those bones would be too small :frowning:

Alas, she is allergic to fish/seafood as well.

But I went to the grocery store just now and bought two beef ribs. I had the butcher cut them into thirds. I probably will have him slice them into quarters next time, as several are still way too big for her. But $1.17 for 7 or so pieces works pretty well for my budget. The bone is still too large in diameter for her to be able to eat it, but at least it’s a manageable portion and she can get into the marrow and cartilage pretty well. She’s out on the patio working furiously on a section now. http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u71/Cammiespike/CJ/Ribsnack.jpg

The rack of lamb looked like those bones might be a good size for her, but that is WAY too expensive.
