Am I nuts? Update

Enjoy your lovely horse! He’s beautiful! I love vital signs are good and all her amazing progeny.

I tried my hand at younger horses and just needed a break from it, and sometimes i worry im getting to old to do it again, so it’s nice to see someone take on the challenge who isn’t 20 years flat.

I bet your hubby will love doing the halter stuff- i tried convincing my dad to do it with his horse but she had to be put to sleep rather suddenly so it never happened for him.

enjoy !!! more pictures!!

First time reading this thread! I get it. You will get the pride of ownership with this guy!

I ‘almost’ bought a yearling Appy mule (with a blanket butt) that was going to go 16h++ a few yrs ago. For trail riding but mules aren’t good for the job until 5+. The math wasn’t good. He sure was pretty. But my money is safe in the bank now.

You don’t want a tall horse for trail riding anyway. I’ve slithered under branches with my borderline pony height mare that turned back sixteen handers. And even though I’m five feet tall I can remount without any problems out on the trail. Find a shorter mule!

I hope I can post the video.
First session in the round pen with saddle and sidepull. So far he hasn’t really cared about anything! We are still doing ground work four times a week. Jeff has been working on lunging, saddling, maybe get on (depends on what Champ tells us. If not ready-we wait) He’ll get started and then have the winter to contemplate life. Then pick up again in the spring. I can’t believe how much he’s grown since I got him!

I can see the video. @Rackonteur it must be something on your end.

Lovely horse!

Lovely boy! He’s so chill about the whole thing

Merry Christmas to all! Just a brief update. Champ continues to grow. It seems like he’s bigger almost every day! He is still pretty chill about most things, but is developing a personality for sure. He is a frisky fellow on the lunge line-the head shake/whip is his thing😂. We’ve continued our “halter” work and he’s doing well. Any misbehavior has been minimal and he takes correction well.

Our work yesterday consisted of walking through the puddles in the driveway. He does not like to get his delicate little hoovies in the water but eventually reluctantly followed me through several-after thoroughly sniffing the water:joy::joy:. Well, that’s it for today. I hope you had s good holiday!
