Pls see my Edit
People my age were familiar with the former term.
Yes, I know. I am probably older than you. I saw your edit after I posted. I wish you had removed the original term. It’s really awful.
My husband and I just started listening to a podcast called the Telepathy Tapes which explores how non-verbal autistic children are able to read minds. The creator had Rupert Sheldrake on to talk about his research and it is absolutely fascinating.
Well, we had our session with Sky Heartsong yesterday and I can say that I was highly impressed. She only asks for a photo and their name ahead of the session, no background, no prep questions. Her contact form does ask if there’s any overarching issue you’re wanting to deal with, but no other specifics. In our case, we (three German Shepherds, a Shiba, and a Maine Coon Cat) are getting ready to move to the home we’re building on five acres so I wanted to get a check in with everyone now that we’ve started packing/prepping. Skye connects with each animal individually and the comments she relayed about their reactions was spot on to how I know each of them. For the moving, the Shiba was the only one super confused about it since DH and her have lived in this house for her entire life… the rest of the crew is used to moving around with me so boxes are no surprise. I appreciated that Sky was able to pivot to different questions. No surprise to me that when asked how he’s feeling (I meant physically), my boy had way more to say about how he’s feeling emotionally. He also said that “[DH] needs me, and I need [DH]” which totally tracks… I joke that DH is Stryder’s emotional support human and Stryder is DH’s sidekick. For my oldest girl, I asked how the pain management was working and Sky relayed that she was better now and didn’t have breakthrough pain. A couple months ago we switched from carprofen+gaba to Librela, so it was definitely interesting to know there’s a difference and good to know it’s for the better. Skye said “don’t know if this will make sense to you, but…” and it very much matched Piper and I. Overall, we spent nearly an hour on the phone, with the youngest GSD getting rushed at the very end (she was sad). We talked about a few behavioral things with a couple of the crew and came up with some ideas. I’ll be interested to see how implementing those works out. Highly recommend Sky and read the blog, super interesting!
