another bridle thread- best in $300 price range?

I just bought this Gold Medal bridle from Hööks in Sweden:

The leather is butter soft and really really nice quality. It doesn’t come with reins though so you’ll need to buy them as well. I also bought this browband to go with it as well:

The stones in the middle turned out to be pearls, which makes me love it even more!!

Several people at my barn have Passiers, several (including both trainers) have Schockemohles, and there are a couple Kieffers and Vespuccis. I bought a new bridle a few months ago, and after stalking all of the ones in our tack room and feeling them all, I went with the Schockemohle. I know some people hate them, but to me, the leather was the softest, and even though some are getting older, they still clean up nicely for shows. I ordered mine from Divoza for about $200 (including shipping) and got it in less than 2 weeks. The vespucci is my second favorite, then the passiers.

I really love my Albion KB bridle. It has a lovely padded, shaped crown, but it still has a separate hanger (so not a monocrown.) It also has the benefit of being padded all the way around the noseband without being a crank. I got mine overseas from David Dyer saddlery. They were really great, I sent them measurements and they helped me pick out what size pieces I needed: http://www.daviddyersaddles.co.uk/category/albion_bridle_parts

If your horse is a standard size, you can also just order a bridle straightforward:

The original Vespucci double raised dressage bridle was nice and made of good quality leather. A couple of years ago I ordered another snaffle bridle for a new horse, and a slip of paper that said “Made in India” was in the (sealed) bag. The difference in the leather was obvious. The ‘new’ bridle felt much more rough, not at all supple, and was no where near the quality of the older bridle I had.

KL Select and its other label, Red Barn, make quality bridles with very nice leather. You can often find them new on eBay.

YMMV.
