Could someone tell me what XA means in the Antares serial #? I have a 17.5 L with 3A flaps and it is SC(half deep). Great saddle for my warmblood!

I have an Antares and it feels rather flat/low at the twist. It’s difficult to grip with my inner thigh. I rode in my trainer’s Antares this weekend and hers did not feel like that at all…it was much more comfortable and felt like I could grab onto something.
Mine is: SC 2 N 17 L M10.
What does that mean?
Does anyone know if it’s possible to change the elevation at the front of the saddle…or would I need a new saddle?

you could potentially have Antares repanel the saddle, to the tune of about $400 (that is what I was quoted). However, is the saddle you have now made for a specific horse you ride?
What is the serial of your trainer’s saddle? Its possible she has the M20, whereas you have the M10. M20 I think has a slightly wider twist, as this is their “regular” tree. Looking back at the thread it also appears that the “L” indicates you have a slightly more narrow twist.
Also, if your Antares is in good shape they are always willing to appraise it for a trade in, which you can then apply to a new saddle. Just a thought.
Thanks, Kate. Yes, I had this saddle custom built for my horse. It fits him nicely. We swapped out the panels when it arrived and put on the gusseted panels so the saddle fits nicely over his back.
I’ll check my trainer’s serial number. I tried to find it today, but the saddle was on a horse on the cross ties and it was hard to see the numbers.

So I believe I have a 3 length flap with a normal position, a wide, deep seat and I have some additional padding ( I believe it was the front panels) but I don’t know what the Q stands for. Does anyone know what the Q stands for on my Antares saddle? This is what was listed on my original invoice:

yup, and as CDM said, L is for the seat width.
Not sure where you all are looking at these Antares, but I always advise buying a saddle from its manufacturer, even if you’re going for a used.
It will ensure a better after sale service and you will be able to turn to the manufacturer if you have an issue with the saddle, since most will stand by their products even the ones they sell used (well at least I do).
Also, people at Antares are great to deal with, so give them a call and be put on their watch-list for your dream saddle!

Thanks very much. I actually got my saddle new from Antares years ago. It is a beauty. Gorgeous chocolate calfskin. I love it. Very balanced and comfortable-it’s not going anywhere. I will never part with it. But it was made for my thoroughbred hunter gelding. I have a second horse, a TB/WB cross mare and the saddle does not fit her. So I was just trying to figure out exactly what I have before I start looking for something new for her. I just can’t figure out what the “Q” stands for. Would you happen to know? I’ve never seen that notated for the flap type on anyone else’s Antares saddle. I could certainly call them. They are, as you say, extremely helpful. Good customer service with this company for sure.

AO is a wide tree., Both my close contact and dressage saddles have an AO Tree as my horse is wide in the shoulders. Antares saddles are the only brand that fit him well.
