When I went up to the barn this morning I saw that Princess Fancy Pants had been rubbing her tail. Upon further investigation, I found some bug bites under the dock. I put some swat on them but is there anything I can put on there that is anti-itch?

My vet told me to use flea shampoo, to kill the bugs. Also to shampoo with a dandruff product. This helped a LOT. Beyond that, I’ve done the same things other posters suggested: Listerine (the original yellow) sprayed thoroughly (think soaking, I rubbed it in) twice daily, Desitin extra strength, fly spray around the entire area thoroughly. I’ve also used human anti-itch products.

Tea tree oil/cream works really well also.

at drug store or supermarket. I keep 2 cans of this on hand.

NOTE: Lidocaine will test at competitions. Last year a horse tested positive because the triple antibiotic they used on some bug bites had a pain killer in it…
