And that’s how I started a minor trainwreck on the forums years ago asking how people would have judged an IHSA class where I learned that my draw had a habit of lying down in the lineup and no one mentioned that to me
I don’t remember that one. What was the outcome of the discussion? I’ll bet I weighed in on it. Lol.
IHSA and IEA shows are an entirely different beast due to the format.
Coincidentally, just this past weekend there was a thing at an IHSA show when a horse fell down at the very end of the flat class as the horses were about to line up. So there was a little discussion about whether the rider would still get a ribbon, since she did not fall off the horse. The horse went down in a heap.
There was about a 50/50 split on whether I should have been eliminated or not, and then it took a turn toward how I must be a terrible horseman because I didn’t personally pick the horse up, gently cradle him in my arms, and walk him to my car to drive him to the nearest clinic
Those people must have been unfamiliar with the IHSA format, where the rider is not supposed to handle the horse at all. The horse’s handler from the host team would have been the one to drive him to the nearest clinic in their car. Lol.
