Hi: I am already starting to think about next year and I am considering Estobar (sire of Escolar; Ehrentusch son) or Bellisimo M for my havidoff mare. I am interested in Estobar’s bloodlines (not much Ehrentusch avaiable in the US and a lot of dressage talent in this line) but in the pictures I have seen, his hind feet look a little upright. Does anyone know if he is clubby behind or not? also, does anyone know how heavy his babies are (my mare is a little oldfashioned)? I am also interested in Bellisimo M and it weems to me that with all of the TB in his blood lines he might be a bit more refining than Estobar. Can anyone tell me what his offspring are like? Does anyone have any experience with using fros=zen semen from either of these stallions?

I looked into using Belissimo M this year and was told by one of the semen brokers that his frozen is very dependable. I was also told (again) that he is not known as a foal maker - his foals don’t tend to have “the money trot”, and he doesn’t stamp them with breathtakingly beautiful type. He DOES tend to pass correct conformation and gaits, good character, and his offspring under saddle are showing very good rideability and trainability.
Thanks for the info, Down Yonder. I am breeding for myself not for sale so if I don’t get a big fancy foal trot but have a horse that proves itself under saddle in the FEI ring I’d be very happy. I would love to find someone who has any offspring from Ehrentusch or his sones, since I am very interested in Escobar. I understand that they can be a bit on the heavy side, but are rideable and talented (this line produced Etienne who competed at the Olympics). I spoke to them at Ludger Beerbaum’s barn and in fact his feet are very good. We don’t have much of this line in the US, so if I got as filly this would open up some breeding possibilities for me in the future (this line seems to cross very well with F line Hanoverians and Westphalians and with L line and we have those over here.
I have used Belissimo M with success. One dose frozen one pregnancy. Filly could have been a conformation model but was not a very flashy foal. Now just started under saddle she looks quite special. Lots of gears and and good elasticity.
Also just had a filly in Germany by Escolar. Totally different type of foal. Big, extravagant mover from the beginning. Will have to see where she goes from there. Am happy to have the B line blood and the E line blood in the gene pool.
Escolar/Sir Donnerhall/Espri filly at one week.
Congratulations on your lovely Escolar filly, Nancy. She is beatiful and I’d love one like her. I had asked Marieke in Ludger’s barn about Escolar frozen semen but its not available. However, I liked his sire a lot also and they do have Escobar frozen. Do you know anyone who has used Escobar frozen?

Maybesmom - you should know that Nancy’s mare is very fabulous and was exported TOO Germany from the US. She had one of the highest MPT while in Germany and also was invited to Rastede. So the dam of that filly in the video above is a huge mover. Here she is:

She also had a super moving Furstenball for Nancy in Germany. So your YMMV since Nancy’s mare is modern in type (Sir Donnerhall - Espri).
I have a Belissimo M mare out of my Freestyle/Wolkenstein II mare. I just adore this mare! Her movement was somewhat underwhelming as a foal and she was not a premium foal, but holy smokes has she matured in a beautiful mare. Here is a little video for her at age three http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dohGM1Yq9IA&list=UUeonB8GPMGYzy3sKReOnZQg She is super elastic, and her canter is a lot better than her dam. Although she does not have a lot of knee action (neither does her dam), she is super balanced in all three gaits. I would say Belissimo M improved on the dam’s canter, correctness of front legs and temperament. The dam is very spicy, but this filly is super mellow and ammie friendly. The frozen semen was very good and the mare got pregnant on a half dose.
Belissimo semen is excellent, i have inseminated 15 mares with it and had one miss with a mare who had an infection
Some of the belissimo foals are really big movers, depending on the dam line but they are lovely 3 yos and you really see the movement then
he is a wonderful stallion and should not be under rated

Thanks all! This is really helpful. i think Bellisimo is a special stallion, and it is nice to see his babies and get a better idea of what he produces and that his semen is good.
