Way back when I rode at her barn, Little Acres, in Perryman, Md. I had thought she’d passed away, but I saw on Google that the place still exists and is breeding Welsh ponies. Anyone out there know about her or her farm?
I am curious too, I remember her back in late 70s early 80s. Wondering too about Miles River Farm near Easton.
I’ve known Mrs. Maslin since I was a young Jr. She’s an excellent horsewoman, very supportive of d 4-H, excellent teacher and judge( MHSA rated, probably USEF as well.) There for a while she had POA’s as well as Welsh. Lost touch with her since I moved out of state. I hope she is doing well
Correct me if I’m wrong but I think that this is the same woman who used to judge our 4H shows in Ann Arundel County in the late 90s. Great horsewoman! I could try a contact to get some information if that would be helpful, feel free to PM me.
@bizbachfan–There’s a Miles River Bed & Breakfast in Easton, is that the same place?
Thanks for the input, All.
theblondejumper: you have a pm
I rode at her barn in the mid to late '60’s and early 70’s. Would love to know if the place is still active and how they are doing. Thanks.
I believe Miles River Pony Farm still exists, I hope it’s not a B & B, but on the same river.
was a great place to learn how to ride. Ms. Maslin did judge our shows on the Eastern Shore circuit sometimes.
Would that be Chuck Maslin’s mom? What ever happened to him?
He did the sound for a number of horse shows years ago. Then?

Yes believe same person, found this on Md. Horse and Pony show prize list, must have been Chuck’s Dad.
Large Junior Hunter Over Fences
The Captain Charles Maslin Trophy
Donated by Mollie Maslin in 1968
I remember showing under Mollie Maslin a couple of times many years ago. I remember one particularly hot, sunny day that she carried this big, bright, pink parasol, and all the horses were terrified of it. I think it made her judging a lot easier
Miles River Farm is still in business. Pam Titus isn’t competing anymore, but she still hauls students to shows
Yes, Chuck is Mollie’s son. She also had a daughter. As to what’s happened to Chuck, here is a link http://www.courts.state.md.us/opinions/cosa/1999/305s98.pdf
I’m not sure what happened to her daughter. She was a bit mentally challenged as I recall. I knew them back in the mid to late 60’s to early 70’s as I grew up in Aberdeen, Md. So both of her kids were still pretty young.
I remember competing with the rider in the above article - he was a nice young rider - that is really sad.
I always enjoyed Mrs. Maslin’s lessons - she would often be a clinician at 4-H events in the area.
So if the conviction was reversed, where is Chuck now?
I think he’s living in Havre de Grace, Md.
I have known Mollie since the mid-60’s. I was showing my 11.2 small pony at the time. (She was never my trainer.) Maybe some of you remember me?
Anyway, Mollie’s 2 kids, Chuck and Mary Lee were/are slightly younger than me. Her husband, Charles, was the starter for the outside course at the MPS when it was held in the Timonium Racetrack’s Infield. The Captain Charles Maslin Trophy was donated in his memory when he died at sea.
A few years ago, I saw Mollie at the Howard County Fairgrounds. She was happy about having had both her knees replaced and was getting her 2nd shoulder joint done. She does the entries for the fair’s horse shows. Her 20-something granddaughter (Mary Lee’s daughter) was assisting her at the show. I didn’t ask about her kids; it’s painful for her.
She mostly judges breed shows out of state. She lives at the same place but I’m not sure if she has any ponies there anymore. She seems happy though. Drop her a line the old fashioned way. I don’t think she has email.
I had the pleasure of spending a day with Mollie last summer, when she was generous enough to volunteer her time to give a riding and judging clinic for a group of our 4H riders.
She was absolutely terrific with the kids-- tough but fair, very clear about what she expected as a judge, and immensely knowledgeable.
I also had the pleasure of her company at lunch that day, and boy, could she tell a great story! What an impressive woman, and a lot of fun, too.
She was my teacher too in the mid 60s, and I loved her. She was so much fun and all the parents loved her too. I see her around Balto and Harford Co at their shows and she seems good…as said, great with the kids. I remember her good pony Quaker Lace and rider Linda Andrisani. My favorite horse at her place was Jaimie, a big (my memory??) chestnut mare, probably TB. I believe she was Mollie’sold horse. I always called her Miss Mollie and still do. She had a pony named Jasper who made me want to lose a few inches from my tall young frame. Her lessons were so good…a very good horsewoman and effective and safe teacher. One more thing…if you took the train north from Baltimore, you would pass her place and could see the ring…I always thought that was cool.

YES!!! Who are you? I remember all those horses, ponies and people you mentioned! You and I may know each other. Do you recall a pony named Tico? He was a green pony I got to school and show, but sadly was sold to someone else. Do you recall Dusty, Tide, and Andy and Bill (Lace’s offspring)?
Btw, whatever happened to Linda Andersoni?
I’m so glad to read that Mollie is still involved in the 4H world. I miss Maryland 4-H so much, nothing quite like it anywhere else!! In my opinion at least.

Linda Andrisani and Jack Stedding owned and operated Monkton Manor in MD for a very long time. They brought along green horses and had quite a few that went on to win HOTY championships under their training. They now live in Mississippi and Linda has been a well known judge for years, having judged all the major indoor shows, Devon, etc. As far as I know, she stopped riding a long time ago.
A while back, Jack was helping me sell my TB mare. He rode her a few times and thought she was easy. He wanted to see how she went with a monkey on her back and gave Linda a leg up. Linda did great with her and she was sold shortly thereafter. This was at Cool Meadows Farm in Jarrettsville.
