That was the gap between Zorba and Courageous Comet. I had been listening to the announcer and heard how close they were together based on the fence numbers he was calling. The people manning the gates were probably too busy manning the gates to be listening closely enough to realize the situation ahead of time. Luckily all the spectators (including the golf cart) managed to scramble out quickly; I think it was well clear by the time Becky could see the crossing and did not affect her.
By the way, kudos to you outriders! I was impressed by how quiet and solid your horses were to do that all day!
