Anybody ever come up with a portable mounting device to take on a trail?

There was some device that was a long strap with stirrup on it. The strap looped around the horses off side leg, right up in the armpit and the over the wither so the stirrup was on the near side. Can’t remember the name for the life of me…
You’re describing the Bareback Buddy. There’s also a Saddle Buddy.

I have a huge draft cross, and frequently need to mount and dismount while fox hunting. I got a pair of Shires extension stirrup leathers from horseloverz. These are what Trakehner mentioned. Easy, easy! My only complaint is the leather is ok, not great.

Out of curiousity…why will the stirrup extension not work for you?
It might for my QH but not for a taller horse. I’m not very flexible ad it wouldn’t be enough.

Do you step into it like a ladder and climb up or do you just swing over from the lower height?

I find a two step mounting block barely enough… but I can do it.
