Anyone allergic to horse's hay (alfalfa), or possible hay mold? Swollen eyelids HELP!

Severe reaction to moldy hay

Tpup, did you ever find an answer? This started happening to me about 4 months ago…and I still haven’t confirmed an answer. Tomorrow I go for a Patch Test, but the more I am exposed to moldy hay, the more I suspect it. The severe reaction is only on my face and neck. Very red, swollen, itchy and burns. We had a rainy hay season and there are a few bales that have mold in them. I pull each flake apart and smell it. When I come back into the house, I have angry patches of red and it starts itching and becoming inflamed. I have eliminated things I thought it was: Wheat, metals, etc but it keeps coming back. I own my own barn and this is the only constant that I can think of…it is horrible. I take the Prednisone (spell) and it goes away but then comes back. All types of allergy pills have been taken with little to no change…only steroids work but they have long term dangers too. Any ideas and help in pointing me to the right direction is appreciated

I have the same symptoms as you. I would break out into this rash, burning, itchy, peeling thing around my nose, mouth and eyes. And the eyes were the worst. I found out I was allergic to Wheatgrass and Alfalfa. Highly allergic to these. It was mainly in a super food I was eating daily. I ended up being diagnosed with allergic asthma. I went years and thought it was something I was touching. But it was in fact something healthy I was eating. I was put on prednisone every month it seemed like. I have currently been off steroids for about a month. I only take zyrtec at night and have not yet had another allergic reaction. Hope you are well!
