Anyone do Extreme Cowboy Race/Extreme Obstacles Challenges? I did it!!!! Pictures!!!

Well we did our first cowboy race on Saturday and I am hooked! I was the only entry in the green horse, which took a lot of pressure off of me. The obstacles in round were, a ditch, jump up, cowboy curtain, go up a dirt pile, pull an object up a tree (which he spooked over) and going through a tunnel with feed bags covering the ground and streamers on the top. He loped and trotted through the course and did very well.

In round two he had to cross a teeter totter, cowboy curtain, ditch with pool noodles all over the bottom, back a W and cross a bridge, three tires and climb a dirt mound.

He was very good again except, by the bridge and tires the organizer put the scariest of all horse eating beasts! A fluffy, white shetland pony! My horse was terrified of it and would notdo any of the obstaclesin it’s area! He would not take his eyes off ofit to focus on the obstacle. Oh well!!! Over all he was great and I am very proud of him. There is another one in November and I heard pigs and/or goats will be on the course! YIKES!!!LOL!!!

That’s great! Pics??? If I have the weekend free, I may try the November one

I am at work and will post pics when I get home! Come to the one at Turnberry! I am excited about it!

Bring Grover to me for de-goat-i-fication. Biskit and Mocha are great at it

I’m jealous. They had games weekend before last here in town and had a few of those you mention, I already have the pigs, tires too, assorted colored chickens, there’s some good ideas for de-spookifying in here. Have fun guys!

Those are great! You look like you had a blast. I love your horse’s facial marking, it is so unique!

I have always wanted to try this and hope to do so in the next few years (first I need a horse again. Preferably a short, stocky ranch horse. I don’t ride western normally, but if I am, I’m doing it right!). It just seems so much more fun than some stuffy horseshow, heh.

No you don’t! Mine is a 16 hand paint that gets mistaken for a TB all the time. The organizer said ex-eventers do well as soon as they realize they do not have to jump everything. You should do it! It was fun and I get very nervous at horsehows but I was not nervous at all on Saturday!

Sssh, don’t tell anyone! I won’t be able to get both my jumper AND my stocky ranch horse if my husband thinks one can do it all!

I just realized I was wrong in my post! Jumpers have no place in an extreme obstacle challenge. A ranch horse is your your best bet! LOL!

Wow that looks like fun. I think I’m going to definitely do the one in Nov with you!! Did you do the green horse class since you hadn’t done an extremem cowboy challenge before?

Awesome pics, btw, I am in love with Grover!!

Awww… Thanks! He is a very special boy and for sale for a trillion dollars!

We did enter the green horse and I will at the one in November as well. It will be at Turnberry. I can’t wait to meet you there!

This looks like so much fun! I just gotta find a horse somewhere…
