It’s a fairly easy course by SJ standards. The idea is to weed out those that don’t belong before the courses get really tough.

Was just thinking that and then the rider from Jordan had 12 pen. Looks like its riding very smoothly.
Someone help me on the red numbers (standings?) next to the riders’ names. I understand that everyone who goes clear is 1, but why’d we go from that to 8, with a couple standing at 8?
I’m sure it’s something simple my sleep-deprived brain is missing- it’s still so early!
I’m guessing even 4 faults will be enough to knock you out of this round… the best will be clear. Top 60 right to next round?? And all team riders
Slightly off topic, but Lucinda Green ( still the commentator here in Oz :S ) has mentioned that Edwina Alexander Tops has been the #1 ranked rider for the past 2 years. Finding this very hard to believe and suspect not true. But wanted to ask people who probably would know, aka COTH.
From what I can find, she is ranked 8th on the Rolex list on FEI. Assuming that is the only list around…

Is it top 60 or top 35?
Apparently she is! BBC commentator just mentioned it.
With 8 (or however many it is) currently tied for 1st on the same score, whoever has the next highest score will go into place below all of them. So with 8 clears, a 4 fault round will be 9th.
Just a heads up, the live scoring online is just a bit ahead of NBC’s live feed.
