Anyone Ever Send a Horse to a Dressage Trainer and the Horse Gets "Broken"?

I’m not sure if this is the same thing or not, but an acquaintance of mine had her trainer riding her 3rd level horse for about a year 5 days a week while the acquaintance traveled for work. The trainer had shown successfully up to I1/2 at that point. The vet came to look at the horse because it was off and proceeded to tell the owner that the horse wasn’t being ridden correctly as evidenced by all the wrong muscles being developed and no development of the right ones… Awkward because the vet didn’t know the horse was being ridden by a “professional”. The horse never came right, the owner retired the horse, dumped the trainer, and proceeded with a new horse/trainer. Very odd business all of it.
