Definitely find out what is common for your breed. Don’t chalk unless you know what you’re doing. Grooming for puppies is not as important.
But I do agree that you might be surprised how much grooming is done. I was thinking when I posted the pics above that you really can’t tell there is a ton of grooming for those pics.
This. Everyone I know uses the Dremel Micro with light, on all size of dogs. Then you get the diamond head. This goes the way of basics like halter and lead rope, but then you get a fancy hauling halter; bell boots and then you get shipping boots; dandy brush and then you get ShowSheen… Dremel and then you get a Diamagroove 
I’ve been looking everywhere online; they’re out of stock everywhere. Weird.
Overall, lots of small power tools are sold out as DIY and home improvement projects soar during COVID. Maybe that’s why? <shrug> Once you get your hands on one, you’ll never go back to one without a light!

It’s cheap so if you want to upgrade eventually it’s not a big deal. Or keep one in the tack box, one in the house.
