Anyone remember this book series?

Jane Badger has so many wonderful British pony books reprinted!

Open Library has a number of legal issues, including offering books still in copyright lent out without compensating the authors. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Library

Yes I know. Horrible. And many that were available there no longer are, which is good. There are also some now in the public domain that are available. It’s a great source but they should not have committed that crime.

Oh, girl, I still have this!

I went and dug up my copy. Fiesta Parade is a ranch girl looking forward to riding her horse with the Santa Ynez palominos in a parade, but ends up driving him in a carriage so her ill cousin can ride with her. Sound familiar, @Sammy_the_Saddlebred?

And that could only be a Sam Savitt illustration! Love it!

I think that might be it? Who is the author? And Sam Savitt does amazing illustrations!

I am trying to decide if this is the one I am thinking of or if I am mixing up 2 stories. I remember the ill cousin and driving, not riding, in the parade, but I wonder if that’s a separate story?

The one I can’t figure out specifically talks about the Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl.

Oh yes, I have this book, so that’s why the Fiesta Parade theme seemed familiar. I think this is maybe a different story from the one I keep trying to remember.

They decorated the carriages with roses in Fiesta Parade, but I don’t think it was THE Rose Parade. Woops, just saw your next post.

Yeah, sorry! I replied to your direct reply to me amd THEN went back and read the previous posts to see the mention of the short stories. I definitely have that one, so that’s not it.

Thanks for the tip! I had the winning bid  I have The Secret Horse by Marion Holland (from a book order) and love it!

I’ve also read this… I think I have it?
I think it’s in a book of other horse stories?
