Anyone want to help name a new puppy?

We picked up our puppy on the night before last, so today is day #2. He’s so so bad. lol Kidding, but I forgot how razor-sharp puppy teeth are. So far he has learned “no!” and is working on “leave it”. Potty training is mostly going well, but I left him for an hour with my mother yesterday and she let him both pee and poo in the house by not taking him out often enough. His “sit” is situational, but he’s a puppy, so that’s to be expected on day 2.

He has a bit of an attitude and gets so mad when you tell him no that he will run and grab his toy and shake it like crazy while growling. He is also not a fan of having a bath right now. My JRT loved baths so much that you couldn’t say the word out loud without finding him in the bathtub an hour later waiting for his bath, so that’s new for us.

We decided to name him Ollie (Oliver) and he’s picked it up fairly quickly. Everyone loves him and while he has picked me as his person, he steals my SO’s clothes whenever he can and drags them around to lay on.

In short, he’s a mess but a fun mess and incredibly smart. I hope to get good pictures of him this weekend to post. I’m a photographer and I have a few photoshoots to do but I think I’ll have time on Sunday. I will attach a photo of him and me the night we picked him up.

Ahhh, what a devilish little cutie! Love the name. He’s going to be so much fun.

Sounds like he wants the last word when told “no”. One of our dogs, when she was a puppy, was the same way, didn’t want to be told not to do something. Her way of protesting was to talk back. Tell her no, or to stop, and she’d immediately start “ra,ra,ra”, not a bark but definitely getting the last word. I couldn’t help laughing, it was so cute, and funny. She outgrew it eventually and is by far the smartest dog I’ve ever had, or known. She’s also the absolute sweetest!

Have fun with your little guy, puppies are wonderful.

Any update on this cute lil chap?

Oh yes, he’s great. He’s exactly as his breeder described him, emotional and bossy. Basically, when he gets emotional, he gets bossy. lol Ollie is very smart and knows lots of tricks. He is about 22 lbs right now and tad taller than I thought he would get, but he’s still small. Shorter than my JRT at the shoulder, just longer, wider, and heavier.

His breeder is constantly getting messages from people who want an “Ollie” dog. Just the other day I was outside a boutique with Ollie in the truck and a lady said, “I don’t know his name, but I know that dog, he’s fluffer butters” which is Ollie’s nickname. lol

Thank you for asking!

Thank you! He definitely can be a handful. He’s also can be a big love too and he likes to cuddle (be spooned lol) before he goes to sleep for the night and as soon as he gets up in the morning. ’

We did have a period of what I refer to as Corgi rage incidents but as he matures and learns ways of coping/redirecting they have become virtually non-existent.

I had no idea that a Corgi could have the coloring of a blue heeler! They are strikingly similar except for the ears.

The name you chose fits him perfectly.

He’s actually a mix, called a Cowboy Corgi. It’s a cross between mini-blue heeler and corgi and they make great working dogs. Both of his parents are working dogs and we got him to work stock with on SO’s family ranch.

No wonder!!
