Another thing that is funny, it takes the Hilason Employees over a year before the remember to post, notice 2006, 2008 and the last month of 2009
They do this on all the Forums, quite comical :D:D
Save your money. They are cheaply made knockoffs and may resemble the name brand saddles visually but the difference is in the quality. This is a prime case of you get what you pay for. Complaints I’ve heard:
Constructed poorly
pommel or cantle sewed on crooked
saddle not balanced
cheap leather
horrible customer service
A poorly constructed saddle is the last thing you want between you and your horse. If you want a quality treeless saddle join the treeless saddles group on Yahoo groups. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/treelesssaddles/ It is a very active group with lots of wisdom and experience. Ask your questions there and they can help steer you in the direction of the best treeless saddle for you. If your budget is a little limited, there are often quality used saddles that come up for sale. A quality used saddle is a far better bargain than a cheaply made brand new saddle

Have never even sat in a treeless but have thought about one.
I think before I would purchase any of them I would demo.
Seems like everyone either loves them or really hates them. <G> If I bought one without demoing it I’d probably hate it and there I would be.
I DO like the idea of a treeless though.
I was lucky…the first treeless saddle I sat in was perfect for me. I purchased a Sensation Ride G3 Hybrid and LOVE it. It is a quality made saddle manufactured in Canada. The leather is all made in North America and you can see, feel and smell the quality. They have excellent customer service too. A lot of thought, and research goes into the design and manufacture of top quality treeless saddles. Hilason, while copying the design to some extent hasn’t done the research and has people who have probably never even seen a horse manufacturing and inspecting their saddles. There is no oversight, no quality control and no customer service. I wouldn’t put one anywhere near my horse. Those people who have had positive experiences I label as lucky…you gambled and won. I won’t gamble with my horses health or comfort.
I actually like the treeless better than flex tree. It seems to fit my horse’s back much better. I purchased a Hilason from their warehouse and actually took my horse straight there. I got tired of the constant ordering and returning of the saddle from other companies and not fit my horse. The manager at Hilason allowed me to bring my horse in and try on as many saddles as i wanted. I finaly found treeless to work best on my horse. Most of their treeless saddles worked great. I purshased one last x-mas and their sale was pretty good. I paid only $499 not bad for a treeless. I’ve been riding for over 6 months now and my saddle is still in great shape even though I ride almost twice a week for several hours.
Give it a try, you’ll find it a pretty good durable saddle.

You ride “almost twice a week”? So, some weeks, do you tack the horse up but then just decide you won’t actually ride today so you only almost did?

I run the stables at a camp and I am looking for Draft saddles. I have 4, and do not have a big budget. Any ideas? I have read some poor reviews on Hilason. The cost is right, any idea where to look elsewhere other than ebay?
They are crap. If you would like to buy some of them, there are a million facebook groups full of them.

@Silver Birch Ranch I haven’t ever heard anything good about the Hilason saddles, I would steer clear. My understanding is that the quality is an issue, though I have never ridden in one. You can find some nice synthetic saddles for cheap that are still comfy and will fit the big guys.
I rode a Belgian Draft for years in Kimberly Trailmaster (Aussie saddle) that I bought new from downunderweb.com. I sent in a wither tracing and they set me up with the saddle for a relatively cheap price.
I also have a Tex-Tan Western that somehow fits every horse I have ever put it on. I am not sure the model, (possibly the Hobson Roper) but I can tell you it is well made, comfortable for all-day rides, and was inexpensive comparatively.
Someone on another forum just picked up an Abetta, I have heard good things about them, You might check that out.
If you are after treeless, I cant say enough good things about Barefoot. I LOVE mine for trails.
