Apparel Lines Copying Each Other

My green TS breeches from way back in the day always had tan knee patches. Does that not count? I thought these were throwbacks to the old tan patch styles but with interesting, schooling colors. This makes me . I mean, if a brand like Christian Louboutin has to spend a lot of time in court to try to protect the red sole as a trademark, who could really claim rights to a tan knee patch. I mean, really.

Contrasting new patches are nothing new. They were around YEARS ago.

Here’s an example of the kind of stuff that Le Fash posts:

FWIW, I do think Le Fash makes a beautiful product. However, I haven’t always been impressed with their persona on social media.
Le Fash has one ambassador/model that I find extremely annoying on social media. Since this whole copying issue with TS started I have unfollowed anything to do with her as she seemed to just be bad mouthing TS. Granted - I have no idea what she’s done recently because I just saw a few days of that and said nope! not following anymore! Left a bad taste in my mouth for Le Fash though. I have one of their shirts I bought on a great sale (70% off!) but don’t think I’d ever buy from them again now.

What about helmet manufacturers? IRH has basically created a knock off version of every GPA that has come out for the past 10 years. Ovation has started to do it as well, they have a Tipperary knock off.

And in a twist, GPA now has a helmet that looks like the Ovation starter/schooling helmets.

As a consumer I don’t mind it because it creates options for people to find something in a similar style but that might fit them personally better, or be slightly more affordable, but I can see where it would be a big deal for the companies.

But in a way, is it any different than something like a new sandwich shop opening up across the street from an existing sandwich shop?

and the irony is how TS would pitch a fit if it was the other way around…,

Hey I wouldn’t mind this at all for guys clothing. If you want a pair of pants that fits… lets say athletically? EG not baggy as parachute pants be prepared to spend at least 100 bucks. I love the tuff rider Tyron’s I think there called. Good breech for schooling but still thats a hell of a lot for school breeches. I have a pair of equilines that I love but for that price they stay in a protected case till’ show day.

My rust and canary breeches in the 60s had white goatskin knee patches. Childish behavior on the part of Le Fash.

You can tell I studied business when I write this, but complaining about copying is a poor use of resources.

Anyone can imitate knee patch design easily. If you can’t make a differentiated product that is not easily replicable, maybe you should not exist on the market.

If you cannot win market share on design, look to material sourcing, distribution, customer service, etc. The equestrian apparel market is SO saturated, you have to have a little more teeth (a less whining) to be successful

yes! Does Le Fash really think a contrasting knee patch is new? I have rust Harry Halls from the 70s that have fawn knee patches. And most denim style breeches have a contrasting patch. Maybe we haven’t seen it for a awhile, but it is not new.

So ridiculous. I haven’t been a fan of Le Fash since that over the top rep bombed every COTH thread they could with Le Fash praise. It was so transparent and completely turned me off to the brand. I don’t like to say never, but I just might say that I will never buy Le Fash.

Have to agree here. When I see the words “Le Fash,” all I think of is that over-the-top salesperson on CotH. Will never buy anything from them, even on super-closeout. Total turn-off.

On the other side of this coin, their technique is working to some degree. We are talking about them.

I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing anything from Le Fash. Tacky tacky tacky is all I think of when I hear that brand name. Began with their shirts, then the obnoxious poster here, and now the Instagram crap. Ick.

$5 says the PITA Le Flash ambassador is too young to remember the good old days and is just showing his/her own ignorance of what we all wore when said ambassador was still in diapers.

I originally thought this meant TS was knocking off their shirts with the two fabrics and I was like, well, I definitely associate that style with Le Fash, but I don’t think they can “own” it any more than a company can own snap collars. (And I hate hate hate those magnets!)

But this is seriously about contrasting knee patches? Le Fash isn’t the first one to come up with that. I don’t even associate that with them.

I’m sort of disappointed that someone hasn’t knocked off those shirts yet. I like the concept of a more traditional looking front but with technical fabric on the sides and arms, but like I said I hate those magnets and I’m not going to spend that kind of money even if it was some sort of majik shirt that left up all the rails. (Okay, maybe then…) Just not worth that much money when I can get a perfectly lovely Talent Yarn on sale for $100…

This knee patch thing is ridiculous.

I think Romfh did it BEFORE Le Fash (two tone/fabric shirts)

Notice the contrasting knee patches. Super cute
I have a pair of breeches that are like 20 years old and identical to those…

RJ Classics is selling a shirt pretty similar to the Le Fash shirts now… FYI

Oooh! Yes!!! I’m going to buy one of these!

Edited: as soon as I can come up with an excuse to need one, that it…

How do you find they fit? Similar to the Talent Yarn?
