Didn’t catch that, sorry. Sometimes (often ) when post has a link and limited/no comments I just go right on by.
LOL me too - if they can’t bother to explain it, I won’t bother to click on it.
Palm Beach, I can see your 1st post, and the Brisnet link is still there:
Did Pioneerof the Nile have a great mind too?
Apparently he did. At least as a stallion. I read (on Blood-Horse? I think?) that he was very courteous to his mares: He liked to ‘court them’ before covering them. To the point that the stud managers left him for last in a session.
Came here to update. MAVEN who is the homebred Wesley Ward trainee (AP’s first winner and won his first start at Aqueduct in April) went through the GOFF’s London sale in the UK today. He RNA’d at 725,000 pounds (907,000 USD) and was bought back. He is still trained under Wesley Ward, although he is solely owned by Richard Ravin now.
Maven will start on Thursday at Royal Ascot in the G2 Norfolk Stakes for the Breeders Cup Win & Youre In. This will be Maven’s second start, the first since early April.
A good day for Pharoah. Monarch of Egypt took second in a stakes earlier today, and then Maven, scratched out of Ascot due to soft turf, went to Chantilly instead and won a stakes there. So AP now has his first stakes placed and his first stakes winner on the same afternoon.
I’d love to see Pharoah become the next Northern Dancer. It’s early days, of course, but a very promising start at stud for the TC winner.
Wesley Ward manages to win both here and oversees. Would love to hear his thoughts on Lasix et al.
What a picture of AP on the link! Now that he is a grown-up horse, he has matured and is even more of a beauty! And the shine on his coat!
Who knows what his thought are now, public or private but from 2014
Ward will serve a 30-day suspension from Nov. 3-Dec. 2 as a result of a positive test for the bronchodilator clenbuterol in Sunset Time, third-place finisiher in the second race at Belmont Park on June 20, 2012. He was also fined $5,000.
And from 2017 (racing at Royal Ascot)
“We are weaning everything off,” Ward added. “They have taken away steroids and everything. The only thing that is permitted is Bute and Lasix. They are backing it up (use of the drugs) to 48 hours and not 24 hours so we are bringing over a very sound horse over with no medication.
“Lasix is a wonderful medication for a horse that bleeds.
"I had one bleed out of his nose, and you can see the pain that he has. It hits you in the heart.
