No, your desire isn’t in tne minority but you can’t afford to just like most of the others who cannot take in a companion horse. Few take them in as, like you, they can’t afford it. IME the folks who took in companion horses took in their grown children’s ex show horses and have no desire to add the random unuseable horses of strangers.
Also know some who have taken an unuseable one in but because they knew the horse and weree friends with the owner for some time before they ever offered to take one on without charging at least token board.
It’s not impossible to find a safe companion only home with strangers but think it’s unrealstic to expect it or seriously suggest it as viable option in most cases. And it is very possible to get scammed and put the unuseable horse in a worse situation rather then a better one.
