Are there any hoof boots that are specifically made for turn-out? Horse needs help!

The main issue is finding boots that actually fit: a boot that fits well is way less likely to fall off or interfere with the horse when he moves around. So your best bet is to measure the horse’s hooves really carefully, and then compare those measurements to all of the suggested boots and buy the ones that match up size-wise.

The Easy Boot website also gives you contact information; I had some success with them a few years ago when I needed to consult about what boots might fit/work best. Worth a try.

I apologize I have not read all the replies:(

when my IR horse foundered in 2012 there weren’t any Rx boots for turnout. I kept EasyCare’s Boa boots on him and made my own pads out of 1/2” Gold’s Gym squares.

in today’s world Easy Care has two models of therapeutic turnout boots, both of which I own and both of which worked well on my horse at certain phases.

Their Clouds (get the inserts) and their Rx.

click on their THERAPY tab at the top as they have other options:)

I see on FB that a few people have good luck with turning out in Scoot Boots.

So we have been in a holding period with this horse. A week ago the farrier came and put one glue on shoe on just his sore foot with plans to come back in a few days to do the other foot if he did well. Horse was lame in the glue on shoe but got better after a few days and a little bute. But he was not comfortable enough so the farrier came two days ago planning to remove the shoes. I got him some easy boot epics and a cavallo boot to try on him. But the horse was SOUND when the farrier arrived. I jogged him on the driveway and he looked good even though I had taken him off the bute.

Great. So then t was logical to put the other glue on shoe on him but the farrier didn’t have it because he used it on someone else’s horse because he thought we were taking the shoes off. So we made plans for him to come back in three days with the other glue on.

Sigh.

The next day the horse was lame again. Significantly. So now it looks like we will take the shoes off tomorrow and put him in boots. I ordered him a pair of Easyboot Stratus as well in case we need them.

This horse is driving me nuts! Such a really lovely boy though so I hope we can sort this out!

I like the Easyboots Gloves but not sure if they’d stay on your guy. How confident are you of the trim? I wonder if the farrier is leaving a bit too much bar? If they are weight bearing they can make them sore.

Scootboots have very good drainage. Water does not get trapped.
