Are there tarps that don't suck?

My tarp from covering last years hay, brown, was still waterproof and no leaks, but was showing wear and discoloration from uv light. I bought a new tarp, black/silver… The new tarp is the one closest to the hay with he older brown tarp as a secondary cover. My thought is that the brown uv damaged tarp may not make it through another year as waterproof, but it will provide protection to the new tarp from uv rays and maybe (crosses fingers) this combination will make the newer tarp last longer.

I have this same question. I need to replace the tarp over my hay stall.

Not much improvement in tarps since this thread started 10 years ago. They still die under sunlight, lasting short times with cheap tarps, slightly longer with pricier tarps.

We finally gave up and framed in a roof over the sawdust bin, got rid of the tarps. I thought it quite funny how things changed fast when husband was now responsible for bringing bedding!! Kids graduated HS and I refused to do it anymore bease it was so difficult in winter. These ARE his 6 horses needing bedding! No messing with frozen tarps, weighty snow now!! Drive in, scoop bedding with front end loader on tractor and drive it to the barn. Such convenience!!

How about a roll of housewrap tyvek?
