I wonder if this is outdated as well. This is what my vet told me many years ago and I think it may have come from the distributor/sales rep for Noltrex. To be fair I haven’t asked him recently if this is the case and it might only have applied for the first couple days? Back when I first started using it, it was a week of stall rest, followed by 1-2 weeks of walk (20 minutes 1-2 x per day), 1-2 weeks add trot, then add canter, then back to work so it was a pretty long rehab period! The company has adjusted their protocol quite a bit since as more research has been done, including recommending for non-motion joints now.
I’m sure a lot has changed since the product was first introduced!
My vet says the same.
It depends what the issue is and which joint you’re dealing with.
My horse had some jaggedness in the knees during remodeling and we wanted to reduce the friction a bit. The vet did a bit of corticosteroid to “create a nice environment” plus arthramid in two parts of each knee as a one time thing, plus a series of IM adequan twice a year.
If your issue is more swelling or pain/achiness your vet might like a different approach.
