Arthritis Care for Senior Horse

I do not think that I saw anyone mention either Cosequin or ActiFlex. Both are fairly inexpensive and easy to feed. Both contain glucosamine and chondroitin. Not all horses show marked improvement, but some do. I have a 20 y.o. TB rescue mare with fairly significant arthritis, and she does really well on ActiFlex.

Thanks so much to all who replied!

In addition to what I’m already doing, I’m going to try adding Cosequin ASU with HA as a start. (I have an inexpensive source so will try that before going to a gel form.) I also had already planned to add a sand “napping area” in my dry lot – just waiting for the rest of the work being done to be finished first – but am hoping to see her laying down more. Also appreciate the idea of doubling up on Equioxx on farrier days.

Is there anything I can do about the knees not locking?
