As a shopper... How do you feel about a bowed tendon?

I’m opposite from many of you. I would never buy a horse with a bow, whether for myself or as a resale. I know lots of people have had horses with bows and never another problem, but in working many, many years on the racetrack, I’ve never had good luck with them. I know theoretically, that life as a pleasure or competition horse is less stressfull than racing, but I still just see it as setting us up for problems down the line. There’s many other injuries I’m fine with, but not bows.

As a consumer? No. I would not personally purchase.

I have the budget to own/board/compete/provide a phenomenal home to one horse only at a time. So as a buyer, I would do everything possible to choose a horse that can fit that bill and reduce the risk of future issue as I don’t have the option to “retire” one and buy a new horse at the same time. I would move on and consider other prospects to purchase.

Then again, I have had enough heart break and rehab time with previous horses; I may be more cautious than others.

Thanks everyone!! I kind of figured it would really be personal preference, but was curious to hear what the “masses” had to say.

I took a couple friends and we took a quick look in the rain at 3 horses in various feilds.
One was average (one of the orginal horses I was going to looking at). No go, seemed like a nice enough guy though. Had a bit more profile on the leg.
Another one (not orginally on the list) a 2 year old, I don’t know what was wrong with it, cute, thickly built, seemed like it was down to party even though the rain was coming down sideways, haha. So, I didn’t get the best look at him.
And one was actually exceptional, could barely see the small bow and really only because I knew it was there and it’s fancy. So I guess I’ll get my hands on its vet reports and go from there.
